Well, I didn't mean in front of it. Just think about where you'd logically place your left hand if you were holding the pistol grip with your left; that's what I meant.

If we're still talking about the .50 there is no way you want your hands anywhere but on the grips at the rear.

You can get away with carrying a GPMG and firing it Audie Murphy style but not the .50.

A regular leather glove will do for a .30 for all the firing from the hip you may do. It's a very awkward item to deal with and it just does not feed that well if you've gone all action hero.

Lol, okay, I just realized what happened. I was thinking of the smaller, WWII version. This is the big, more modern gun.

Blastyman had a .50 up and running years ago. I forget where all the pictures are for it, but it has been mounted on a picup truck for games as well. This pic is from 2005

The general dimensions of the .50 is the same from then till now.

The .30 baby brother was in service in recent memory with a 7.62 flavor and called just the GPMG or C5.

It was a crew served weapon; so you had a 2 man team at the platoon level. It had no safey, no trigger guard and you would slip a regular C1 sling over the pistol grip at the rear and the barrel jacket a the front if you were going on a patrol. #1 had the gun and #2 had the tripod and ammo cans.

Just for fun you'd also carry your C1 rifle as a secondary.
