Can't do math
|
Finally ... I think its been nearly 13 years.
Well I got my first Tokyo Marui catalog from my father way back when, I'm pretty sure I was 12 at the time as I had just moved from Thunder Bay. A 1998 edition? As the MC-51 was not on the pages.
Anyways, was always in a debate between the G3A4 and the SG-1 to which gun looked better to a 12 year old. Last year I got the real urge to decide to start, but since as far as I know they are discontinued/not sold anymore, I looked into getting a Type 91 cause its a AR-15 magazine compatible that seemed rather unique. I had asked around, so the pre-order was placed and last minute a few months later it turned out SRC wanted a order of 20 of them to build a batch! :banghead: So the idea to get into airsoft died a little due to other financial commitments that came up over the last year, however, I finally managed to pay down some debt, and prioritize some money (going to college twice can sure drain ones money flow ). Since I really liked the Tokyo Marui G3 line from way back when I was a pre-teen! I decided to look into it and turns out Classic Army makes the "SAR M41" line, both a G3A3 and a G3A4 and they are in production! Since I remembered reading forums in high school about airsoft as I played paintball mainly at the time that people would upgrade their TM guns with CA or Systema parts, I figured less hassle this way, and its a new gun. So sure enough I emailed Mach 1 airsoft and asked if they can hold one for me a couple days ago. And today I took the long (1:15) trek with the TTC from my college to their location. Also picked up a 9.6V 1600mAh NiMH and charger at the same time. And now that I am back home well pictures to follow! The nicely wrapped box that they did for me! The tool to take it off: I see a box halleluiah! The gun: It came with a lower spring, will have to install it and see if it shoots at a reasonable speed for the GTA fields with the other one, but I do know enough to know that I can't play with it at the moment due to its velocity and I should buy low caps (rather get real caps if at all possible but those too seem discontinued like the TM G3 line). But not sure if I am missing anything off the top of my head, if so let me know. Dimitri |

Nice gun man Can't wain to see it out there in action.
If I were you I would get midcaps (100 rd) because they're more versatile and you can always load them with fewer bb's. |

Thank you all for the replies so far. I might do the low/mid cap thing instead.

Actually yes, did up the basement as a workshop.
My Work Area - YouTube Took the easy way out and just used dimensional lumber, nothing fancy as its a worksurface that will get damaged. Dimitri |

Great choice. King Arms makes good mags for it in locap and midcap sizes, but I found they fit tight in both my CA receivers, when I had them.
I definitely know how it feels to wait a long ass time. This isn't my original ASC account, the original was 2003. I lurked before that as well, and turned 18 just in 2009. |

Shot her for the first time this morning, showed the girlfriend how to shoot as well. Anyways, as we all know the gun comes in "hot" at 430fps or there abouts. However the gun comes with the original spring Classic Army makes for it which is rated in this gun at going around 330fps.
So I decided to upgrade it, or rather downgrade it. After fiddling for the last half a hour, I managed to disassemble the gun, change the spring to the smaller one, and reinstall everything. Sooo hoping for the best, I loaded up some BBBastards into the hi-cap that came with the gun and set the trigger unit to "E", and pulled the trigger. Dang it worked! Not only that the annoying double fire of the mornings shooting on semi-automatic disappeared, didn't happen once in the dozen or so shots I fired, shot a small full-auto burst, and that worked too. This gun really isn't meant for the bigger spring they install in my opinion since the smaller spring doesn't do that. Anyways, I should be atleast under 350fps so indoor fields in the GTA and outdoors should be okay! Dimitri |
