spray painting my slide.

i just have some quick questions regarding spray painting my slide.

i want to spray paint the slide black, but which would look better, matte or gloss?
would you suggest Enamel spray or Acrylic spray?
and would it be necessary to give it a layer of clear coat?

Personally I'd use Krylon Ultra Flat black spray paint.

If you're using model paints I'd suggest enamels as I've heard they dry to a harder finish.

Gloss would look like a toy, but if that's what you're after then go for it. Matte is generally what most black firearms are.

I've done the same with a receiver on an MP5. (And will be doing a pistol slide in the next week) I used the Krylon Ultra Flat black, looks great. I did two light coats inside and 4 light coats outside. You have to ensure that each coat is completely dry before doing the next. Light coats, cause if you go heavy you will get runs.

(The two inside were in case of scratches!)

Is the Slide metal or plastic?

If its metal i would throw it in the oven at 175 for about 25-30 mins and hit it with high temperature BBQ paint ive done this to many receivers and trust me when i say its durable.

If its plastic just go with a normal flat black matte finish a few light coats should do it.

Oh yeah and dont worry about any comments as to why your cooking gun parts in the oven. LOL

Ooh I like the baking idea. I've got to paint my KA metal receiver since it has that ugly grey finish. How many coats would you do? And what would the process look like?

I personally did 6 coats on my CA seeing as how i had it laser engraved afterwards, The KWA was more a Learning experience, The more coats the better the engraving and the end result is awsome.








sand first or clean with alcohol then bake first then apply a light coat, Then repeat the baking process, However on your last coat do not bake it after the last coat, let it cool and dry naturally. and do not exceed the 175 degree mark or you will litteraly cook the paint and stink up your house. I would suggest at least 2-3 coats and if you have access to it a light coat of clear satin clearcoat after it cools. Best part about this method is even if you do manage to scratch the paint its just a matter of rebake and light spray scratches dissapear. Above is my CA M15A2

gonna spray paint my slide the first thing next morning.

any tips when i spray paint? (i wanted it to have a brushed stainless steel look, but i guess that's not possible)

For plastic parts i usually leave them in the sun for an hour or so and then paint em i find whene the parts are warm the pain adheares better, A hair dryer should work just dont get it so hot you melt your parts or warp em.

Oh and stalker nice dish rack, My wife would shit if she seen that.....lol oh and is that Airsoft or RS?
