Ares Tavor - G&G G2010 ???
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to buy a new AEG. I received an ICS-20 M4 Retractable for my birthday last week. However I am a left handed player so an M4 doesn't quite suit my needs. Now that that quick intro is over let's get on with the question: I'm looking for a bullpup assault rifle to be used for semi-cqb to mid range play (you can read the title to see which are my two options if you haven't figured that out yet). Keep in mind that I'm left handed and about 5'10. If anyone has tried either or both of these guns I'd like to hear some pros/cons of each. Thanks lots! Jake, |

Obligatory AV speech first...
Want a gun? Especially something uncommon? Get AVed, you'll have access to a metric fuckload of stuff not available anywhere else, so your options are more open. Might as well throw in P90s and L85s and AUGs in that thinking, same basic idea. There's also a couple custom kits out there, even a hand made M14 bullpup on the forums. |

Well, Thanks for the av speech. I know everyone flames people who don't have their age verification done but I dont use this forum enough to justify it. So if anyone has any real help...

If you can't justify getting AV'ed, then we can't be justified helping you.

At a minimum, go to a game and handle these guns if other players have them. The edgonomics are a tad weird for some.

Dude we get enough underaged players asking goofy questions, expecting to get spoon fed from the community. You can't really just post "witch gun is better" it has to do with a personal note. Not so much as to other people telling whats better. Google reviews on both guns and make the choice for yourself.

I'd suggest an attitude re-adjustment first. You've just registered in August 2011, we're only 13 days into September (you could have registered at the end of the month) and you're saying you don't use this forum enough to justify age verification? You simply do not have enough experience to be making that call, this is the only cross-canada forum, with posts more than the sum of all the regional forums, if you are serious about airsoft then it behoves you get AV'ed. There is a great deal of garbage out there and utilizing a resource like this will save you money from not making bad purchases.

Yeah this is my 4th post now. I'll probably go do it on a week that I'm not working. I get that people who take airsoft and this forum seriously wouldn't want underaged players playing their favorite game. On that note I apologize for being rude and wasting your time. And I know there's no such thing as a "best" anything however if one gun is say prone to horrible barrel wobble or cracking in trigger guards, rails, mag release etc. That would be information I'd like to know before dropping that much money on a gun. I didn't word my question very well nor did I respect some of the more veteran members/players.

Just use your perfectly good M4 for a couple games. It might not be tha most lefty friendly carbine, but it isnt terrible either. Get your self some field experience first, so you know what works best for you.

I beleive that the G&G fn2000 is the most comfy or them, its basically the 5.56 version of the famous p90! (same controls, almost same ergonomics!)
But, its a G&G, and some ppl hate their internals... While on the other side, the Ares Tavor is also a really nice gun, I was considering getting one myself, but I'm still diciding which gun to get! AFAIK, the Ares Tavor has a really solid/indestructible polycarbonate body, and really nice finish (signature of all Ares Products!) + it feature the quick-Swap spring option so you can change the FPS on the go! (the G&G FN2000 also has a quick fps change function, but it doesnt work as well as the Ares Quick-swap....) But on the other hand, I heard that the Tavor internals are a b!tch to get to and Ares uses lots of proprietary/unique parts... So its really up to you, Google some reviews, and try to decide which one you prefer... Guns all come down to personal preference... |

You're inexperienced with the M4. I'm a left handed player as are many others. Many of which run M4s with no issue. Get familiar with you gun. |

Gunny is spot on. No amount of reviews or secondhand info can prepare you for how much you'd like a gun. You have to try one out and decide for yourself which gun is "best".

I think both the guns you mentioned perform decently out of the box. Each has their own set of issues but in the end it will come down to your preference.
I, for one, feel the TAR is really unwieldy in my hands and a little on the hefty side. On the other hand I've owned the F2000 and it felt amazing to shoulder and maneuver with. Reloads felt better and the whole size/weight thing seemed to work out perfectly in my hands. I'm left handed as well. I'm 100% sure there are others who feel the exact opposite of what I do regarding the TAR21 and the F2000. You really need to hold each gun to get a feel for it, and then make your decision.

buy an AK. Ambidextrous mag release and the fire selector is on the other side of the gun.
