FTC AK47 blowback?
Anyone here own an FTC AK47? I know they are pretty rare, and so are their parts/mags... Im looking to find a video of one, if one exists. I want to see how the blowback looks like on it when firing (I always wanted an AEG AK with blowback, looks like only gas ones had that... I do remember that thread about the Sig AEG being modded to have blowback, but dont think anyone did it to an AK)
Any tips? Any progress on AEG blowback? Thanks! Cheers, Alex |

You'll want to check out www.classicairsoft.net for more info on FTC AK's. Remember that FTC stands for Falcon TOY Company....FTC guns aren't the most robust classic gas guns out there.

I Own a FTC AK.
Killer gun. Built like a tank, very hard to find in Canada. Mags are even harder. The blowback rocks. The gun utilizes a solid metal bolt that weighs roughly the same as a realsteel. When it starts chuggin away.... the fun factor hits infinity in a hurry. I modded mine to use Hop Up, and have converted a few TM mags to work with it. Not something I would suggest you try unless you can figure it out yourself. If you get one of these guns, you'll look at AEG's like they are disseased. Gas Blow Backs rule. Sorry, no vids. Lynch

I'm debating on converting it to an RPK, I just sold my AEG RPK so I'm looking to build a gas one. I might hunt down another FTC AK for the idea though. If I ever get a vid of it, I'll send it to ya. Look to pay $250 - $450 depending on condition and mags.

Nice - Im in Vaughan - thus if you do go to a local game with it, I may be able to come down there too as a spectator
While a GBB RPK would be amazing, I think you really should hunt down two more of these AKs (one for the project, and one for me ;-) ) Do you also happen to have the TM AK-47? how do they compare towards accuracy and power? Wow, the price seems very good to me, I expected you'd say atleast $600, seeing how rare it is! I would love to buy one for around $300 with a mag or two, if Ill ever find one in good shape. Gotta love the power and blowback! Does it use an external or internal gas tank? Thanks! Cheers, Alex |

Lately that price is more like USD$ rather than CAD$ as the FTC has been kind of hard to find recently. More likely at least about $650 - 800 CAD by the time you got it in your hands with one mag.
External rig only. |

The FTC is... out of the box, a so-so shooter. You need to stabilize the barrel and add hop-up for it to be effective. The gun however is built like a tank. Almost all metal and wood, I could club a Bear over the head with it and I doubt it would break. Shooting is the best part... jack up the pressure and Rock & Roll. It's a drug. I might be off with the price, havn't really been in the market for one, so Kwok's proby right about the funds needed to aquire one these days.

Alright than... I guess Ill be going for the TM AK-47, just gotta scrape the funds together to get it... :banghead:
Nice to know that its (FTC) mostly metal and wood! With a TM AK id have to buy a wood and metal receiver kit. Thanks! Cheers, Alex |

Well, if you think about it the AK is around $500 then the metal and wood upgrade kits from Guarder... another $300-400... you're about the same price range. The only issue is that the FTC needs more work before it's reasonbly skirmishable unlike the TM which is pretty well GTG right out of the box. Oh, and mags. FTC mags are expensive ($65-80 USD each) and hard to find.
There's a Sheriff Dangerous AK right now available at classicairsoft.net on the buy/sell forums that a user called numbee apparently just found in Japan for $800 USD shipped to a US address. Being as it's a Sheriff modded gun it should already have all the upgrade goodies but you'll still be stuck for mags. |
