KSC Glock 18C Spring Guide Question
Hey Gang
So I just got my G18C today and wow!!! I'm loving this gun. The gun fits like a glove and I'm just loving it!! The only thing I'm not loving is the Plastic Spring Guide that comes stock with the gun. In only about a few hours just playing around and tinkering with the gun, I found the Spring Guide looking bit worn out already. (Yes I lubed it all up before shooting) I'm concerned about the reliability of it and am considering upgrading the Spring Guide to Metal (actually am going to purchase the upgrade in advance G&P ver) My question is though if I do upgrade the spring guide, it comes with an enhanced spring. I read that if I do install the upgrade with the enhanced spring it is recommended to upgrade to a higher flow valve. Now I really like how my gun shoots and feels right now. I also don't want to be bothered with the hassle of upgrading my valve either. Would it work well without the high flow valve or the high flow valve is sort of a must. Another alternative that was suggested to me was to use the new metal spring guide and just install the old stock spring. This sounds neat but I looked at the spring guide and am not sure how to get the old spring off. I see a tiny hole that looks like it can be hammered out but am not sure. If anyone has any suggestions or anything... I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance S |

Shouldn't have any issues but if you do or you choose to run the stock spring you can.
If you look at the stock guide rod near the back there is a pin, hold the spring back punch that pin out to remove the end and the same end for most metal guide rods just unscrews then swap springs and done. Edit; yes that tiny hole you saw there is a roll pin in it that's what you need to punch out.

Hi Tex
Really appreciate the input. So leaving the new Spring Guide and Enhanced Spring as is shouldn't present any problems? No sluggishness or anything? That problem was what I was worried about most. If that's the case I'm happy to hear it Now if for some reason I do decide to swap springs. Is there a way I can easily do it? What kind of tools I can use to punch out that pin without damaging the plastic spring guide? From what I can see it looks like I may have to destroy the original plastic spring guide to get a hold of the stock spring. Thanks for posting Tex |

no need to destroy it, all you need is a hole punch or anything that is the same size as the hole really the pin pops out easy. The first time I did it I didn't have the right tools so I used a small allen/hex key and it worked out fine no damage.
In my KSC Glocks I have ran upgraded hammer springs, guide rods with upgraded springs and many more upgrades and some mags had high flows some didn't and honestly I could just barely tell when I grabbed a stock mag.
