Dboy gearbox, need opinions / reviews

Hey guys, i pickup up this fixer aeg for real cheap. A classic army m16 (near mint exterior btw), and in the spirit of keeping the gun cost effective, i am planning to replace shot mechbox for a dboy one. They say to shoot around 390 fps.

Any opinions are welcome

Yeah they are cheaper in cost so quality is supposed to be less, Dboys being crap is your opinion or it's from personnal experience?

No, really, they're crap - everything from shell material to internal components to shoddy manufacture. Overgreased, poor shimming, cheap gears/bearings/pistons, and nothing is really reinforced for long term reliability.

And once you start replacing broken parts, the long term costs will exceed the cost of a decent gearbox up front.

Pick up a G&P drop-in. I'll cost you less in the long run.

If you adjust the AOE, re-shim, teflon tape the cylinder head, new nozzle, and you should have it running for a long time with good compression.

I believe Huang has some JG gearboxes for sale which are apparently quite decent for the price.

I have ordered a Dboy gearbox from Huang exactly, it's the only model he stocks. Since work takes over my schedule i airsoft once a month. I spend about 800BBs per game mostly semi-auto, so for the price if it breaks i will order a G&P one from jugglez.

edit- slink182 i know that G&P rocks, i just sold my G&P Vltor cqb-M4, it frigging shot like a laser beam with insane rof

Yeah, if you really want to buy a cheap GB, buy a Jing Gong one. If you want it last longer, replace the plastic bushing by metal ones, downgrade your spring to shoot approx. 350 fps, do a good grease job and a good shim job and your gun will last longer

If you want JG, Ebairsoft has this for a rather cheap price.

Is Dboy made by JG?
Sorry i never really folowed brands, in my 2010 season i only stuck with G&P aegs and accessories. When airsoftparts go back online i might just end up pickup up a G&P mechbox and M120 Motor.

No it's not. JG copy TM designs in most of their guns and parts while D-boys copy VFC and a few others. More or less, they are almost the same in quality but D-boys seems to be more off spec.
