Some project

Hi there everyone! I am currently assembling a Aeg from used parts. My plan is some M16/M4 variant and I am calling it "Frankie". However I already got some parts to start with. I am currently searching other used parts that I need in the forum. Hopefully my project will be complete by the end of June. The question is. is it worth my time or money if I go any further. If others done this type of project, I need your inputs. cheers

This a rather open-ended question and largely depends on the type of thing you're trying to build.

In general, parts-based projects tend to involve custom pieces, upgraded parts and unusual designs that involve more parts than a standard AEG.

As such, their final cost tends to be higher than a new AEG, but the finished product reflects the time and effort that was put into it.

Without additional details, the answer then is that the project is worth it if you consider your time and money well-invested--it depends on your own personal perception, and we can't really provide an answer for you.

Are you talking about making an M-Series rifle from aftermarket and spare parts?
If so, that shouldnt be all that hard. You will see butcher sales with the front section of the rifle for sale, spare bodies, and stocks. From there you just need to know how all the parts attach, and what smaller pieces you will still need after all the big parts are bought.
There was a thread made long ago in th General section about this same topic, and the person was able to buy all the parts neded to make his Colt from scratch.

I'm building an SR25 from parts.

Something of this caliber is worth it, SR25's can hit $2500. If you just building a run-of-the-mill M16. Just buy one... or buy a used one and butcher it.

I made a M16SPR from parts. From the time I decided to make one, till the time I had one up and running, it wasted 9 months of my airsoft life. This gun is literally my baby.... I gave birth to a gun!

The funny part is that even after all the pain of locating spare parts, I'm still missing this hard to find piece: Fire selector switch (opposite of lever)

Do you see that hole on the lower reciever... that's the piece I'm missing!

Pat, It would be great if you have one available. By the way, your order was shipped out today.

Gorgeous SPR.

I am currently making a SR16 from scratch also.
IMHO, I have to say it is more fun to build it myself than to buy a ready made AR, although it is most likely more economical.
