Famas and Version 1 open gearbox mecbox conversion
Hello guy
For you guys out there that love the Famas but don't like the low FPS and the complicated gearbox. This is my mod to make it an open gearbox. It works wonderful. I will be posting new pictures when the gearbox will back in the Famas.

So what is this? A quick change spring modification?

I have developed a new antireversal latch spring for the FAMAS. It was made in conjunction with Eastern Springs in Halifax and they cost me a fortune. They allow the FAMAS to go above 400fps and still have the AR latch function properly.
I will have a few available in my store soon, but they will be about $25 each. |

This is a quick change spring mod.
For now it works well. When through 1000 bbs about and still works fine. You don't need to mod any of the internals to make it work. But if you plan on going 400 fps this is what I did. Metal bushings New high torque motor for an AK47 that I cut the shaft to make it shorter. The rest is the same. by the way this is a Cybergun gearbox not a TM

ah ok, the cybergun version does not use the tm style AR latch and therefore should not experience the dreaded tm v. 1 high power reverse problem.
does the cybergun match the tm v. 1 gearbox every other way? |

The motor sticks out a bit in the back.
It has a custom tappet plate and a special cylinder nozzle. I have fitted them in TM body before. They work great if you know what you are doing. The only problem is the but plate cover is off be 3 mm. So if not fussy for looks it's OK but you can always dremel it to make it fit.

Very nice man. Always nice to see someone thinking out side the box. I have a soft spot for the Famas as well

I have both a Marui and Cybergun FAMAS and the metallurgy is superior on the Marui one. The AR latch from the Cybergun one actually wore to a rounded end very quickly under an M120 spring after ~5k rounds. But overall I like the Cybergun gearbox better as it is slightly larger and has a larger motor slot. Be ready to change gears too, the sector gear stripped very quickly too.
@Venture do you have those springs available yet? @Moogy any chance of pictures of the inside of the gearbox? |

But it's fun to have a open V1 gearbox.
