TM - G18C Metal Slide Advice Needed

Hi Guys; I am looking at possibly getting a metal slide for my
TM - Glock G18C GBB Pistol.

From what I am seeing online, there are currently at least 3 companys making metal slides for this model. Guarder, PGC and Shooters Design.

Based on past experiances with any slides or based on current experiances with actual G18C mteal slides, what "brand" would you recommend, or which one would you stay away from?

Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Gordo

I havent tried guarder or PGC, but i have a SD G18C slide and a 5.1 slide.. I havent had any problems with it so far.. if u want pics of the SD G18C slide, i can post it to assist u in making a more informed decision.

I've used the PGC and Shooters Design slides and have found the Shooters Design to fit the best. The recoil guide fits with no adjustments required where the PGC slide required some fitment.

The Guarder slide is also quite good as well.

I'll be interested to hear about the New Guarder stuff, their new Glock slides are CNCed and looks decent, but their newer generation outer barrel are crap...I have one of their new gen slide for G17 mated to a older style barrel and it works well...on a G17

As far as G18C slide goes, I am using the SD set right now. The installation was simple and quality is good(did not need any fitment). The set also includes metal sight set, which is not the case with PGC. However the marking is not that authentic looking as the font and sizes of the engraving looks a bit off.

Yes please on the photos! That applies to everyone who has done a metal slide upgrade on their TM - G18C

Thanks for the responses so far, I hope to hear from a few more folks before I make my decision.

WOW Turok, Thats looks sweet! Great pics, thanks for posting them!

So I am curious, what kind of spring and high flo valve did you go with?

Also did you find this Shooter Design kit in Canada or did you import it?

Thanks again for the pics, I am stoked now!

Well, before you get stoked, wait for others to post their G18C slides from other brands (ie. PGC, Guarder) as I have not seen those slides before. For the recoil spring, im using a 200$ recoil spring with 1/3 of the stock recoil spring for short stroking. I did this because a heavier metal slide will reduce the cycling speed and ROF. Im also using a Firefly floating valve and AABB nozzle since my stock nozzle broke and FPS dropped.

I purchased the SD kit when I went to HK, so i picked it up from the ehobby store. I did see the guarder and pgc slide, but i cant remember the quality. I was too overwhelmed by all the gun accessories around me when i was at the store.

EDIT: the rear sight in the pics above is stock

Very nice pics guys! They look like proffesional pictures!

The engraving on the Shooter Design looks awesome in the pics, thats whats got me stoked so far.

Would love to see some pics of the PCG too.

Anyone familiar with the legality of importing metal slides into Canada?
I would prefer to buy Canadian, but so far I can only find the SD Slide in Asia. Sure don't need any hassles bringing one in.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks again

Gord

The advantage of the pricier SD slide is, like mentioned before, the iron sights that comes with it. As far as the engraving and paint, they are all very similar at first glance, with very minor differences here and there. If one looks better than the other it's mostly from the quality of the pictures more than their actual appearance. How long the finish last is another story. One of the things to look for tho is the extrator, as some aren't all that secure (can't remember wich one people kept complaining about). Like I wrote before, I check Arnies alot and I saw some people mentioning that SD slides sometimes needed sanding while others here said the same thing about the PGC and Guarder. I'm guessing it's mostly a matter of machining or casting, tolerances are quite thight.

Btw there's no problem importing them.

Bringing slides in is fine.. I ordered a SD 5.1 slide before and it was a breeze (for me at least). If ure worried about custom, airsoftparts have both the guarder and PGC for sale:

SD's extractor piece is secured as long as the BBU is there, its pinched between the slide and the BBU and can't physically come out. The finish are all aluminum anodizing, and so far nothing I've ever owned in airsoft are actually mil-spec anodzing, so don't expect super hard finish....mine now has holster wear, but so will a real gun....
