For spetsnaz fans
Was browsing a few blogs I usually go on, and found this gem. Lots of hi-res photos of modern day spetsnaz during training operations. Make sure to look through all four pages..

So how do they carry out these "ambushes" (and stuff)?
I saw live rounds -- no blank firing adaptors/blanks anything like that. Is it largely role played?

In Mother Russia, real ammo IS training.

Blank rounds.
Only time real ammunition was used was on static targets, That was private training of some Militia Spec Unit. |

Nifty.
I like how their targets are pictures of Darth Maul.

At least they're better looking than their hockey players.

Those 9A-91s are looking more and more appealing to me as time goes on...
Cool pictures, thanks. |

9A-91's are also starting to grow on me. They are nice in a different way. The VAL's are my all time favorite Soviet/Russian rifle though. Just beautiful.

Am I the only one who wonders about OpSec? What happened to blanking out operators eyes/faces? Or are the Spetsnaz too hardcore for that.

Who knows? 'Speznaz' is a pretty broad term. It means 'special forces' and is used in a very general sense by the Russian military. I guess these guys aren't important or sensetive enough to need their identities protected. I mean (I don't know for sure) but I don't think US Rangers or Royal Marine Commandos get their faces blanked out either...

Aren't the Royal Marines supposed to be "British Commandos"? (or at least what became of them after WWII). It would stand that you'd want to protect their identities. OK.... what about PPCLI do they get their faces blanked out? (Well I assume some would at least but do they all?)

As far as I know Royal Marine Commandos are pretty cool about showing off their identities, but then this is my only evidence of the fact.
YouTube - AIRSOFT WAR COMMANDOS SCOTLAND L85 G36 G3/SG1 At my best guess, this is probably a PR op with a more minor unit. |
