I just watched that video a few hours ago XD. Found a sneak peak of a GBBR MP5 as well, so G3 is WELL on the way since the body is pretty much the same as an MP5 :P

That and the propane smell (If I don't use greengas) is the two major turn offs for a gbbr for me. I can work past it though.

Yep, just not much out there about them. Was hoping to see a nice detailed post from the ASC community about build quality, mag reliability, etc. Maybe I'll need to take the plunge ...

I'm confused...

In the first post it says "holds back the bolt to remind the user that the chamber is empty (not like on the real one)"

When I was in China this summer and went to the Beijing North International shooting range and shot a russian kalashnikova 47 the bolt stayed all the way back when I was out of ammo.

I know because I pulled it back a bit more so it would slam back to closed position (which was awesome) and then inserted a new mag then racked the bolt again.

Perhaps the 74u real steel doesn't do this? i dunno... actually now that I think of it, the bolt stayed back when I was shooting the Dragunov, but i'm not sure now if it did the same thing when I was shooting the 47 (see i was shooting it in full auto and I must say I was rattled after that and didn't really check to see)

The bolt does not lock back on a real AK. It might on a Dragunov, but those are two different guns.

Funny... there's no bolt catch on a Dragunov or AK47.

You sure it wasn't a VZ58?

Sorry boys, I have been meaning to do a short video showing how the new SR AKS74U worked and doing some testings and disassembly and review, but it has been a crazy month for this business, as in other retail business.

When you shoot your last round, the bolt will go all the way back, and forward again. But instead of going all the way forward and closing the ejection port, it actually will get stuck about 2/3 of the way forward. The only way to close the ejection port now is by removing the empty magazine.

Once the empty magazine is removed, the bolt will snap right back to 100% forward position. I haven't shot a real steel AK74, but as far as I know, this is the way they "SHOULD" be.
