Hi-Capa hammer design issue?

On the 5KU branded hammers the area that makes contact with the slide is not as milled down/rounded as some other company's offerings. Will this pointier edge catch on the slide as it returns to battery?

People with experience with 5KU hammers/hi-capa hammers please feel free to chime in.

Picture of the area in question:

Thanks in advance.

Many other hammers have a similar pointed edge including ones from Airsoft Surgeon. The 5KU hammer does get caught with the BBU as the slide returns to battery, but for another reason. The problem is the position of the hooks (full and half cock), as it is different than stock or AS. More specifically they are higher up, so even when the hammer is cocked that edge will be higher than normal. 5KUs are clones after all. They also have a SV one without that edge, you might be able to get away with it.

What do you use to file down steel? Can you use a steel hand file? Or do you have something else?

Basic rule of thumb: You use a file constructed of a material that's stronger than the material you're working on.

Stronger materrial > weaker material.

Did mine on a file and cleaned up with sandpaper, basically polishing the filed spot...probably a lot faster with a belt sander though...

I'll give it a try with a file. I used a dremel and ground down my old hammer too far so it no longer engages in the full cock when the slide pushes it back.

Using a file is definately a better idea...

I just made that mistake with my MEU hammer. I got tired of testing it every time I filed, so I just filed a bunch off and screwed the job up. Being lazy never works...
