Best foam to use in a silencer

I just recently got a new KAC QD silencer for my CQBR and this one had no foam at all inside so I was just wondering what do you guys usually use ? If I'm gonna go out and buy something I'd rather have something that works well on the first try.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Pipe foam

I use it in mine, it fits nice and snug in the silencer. Very good to use with a inner barrel that extends into the silencer. You just need to cut it to fit into the silencer as atleast for me it was too big. It may also make a different noise then your gun usually sounds like. The foam I used actually partially silenced the noise when it fires (not the gearbox lol) and makes a thumping noise, its pretty cool

Closed Cell foam is probably the best to use since its rigid and easy to cut. Just use an old camp mat (you know the blue ones).

Yeah but I'm pretty sure an open-cell one would help reduce the sound even more.

(If you can fit it in the silencer without blocking the BB path...)

closed cell foam doesn't do crap to reduce noise, open cell is the way to go!

I ended up going with open cell and bought some of that pipe insulating foam and it did a great job. Not only it works great but it was easy to trim sue to one side being opened to help slide it over the pipe you're trying to insulate.

I picked up a T shaped one at Home Depot for 1.59$ and it was enough to do the whole silencer.
