I've had my gun for about 4 months now and put about 2000 rounds through it. Its hop-up is ridiculously high even on the lowest setting. (.25's and .28s work best). Are there going to be any catastrophic failures down the line that I should know about? I don't want to fire 19,999 rounds and have it blow up in my hands on the 20,000th. I've heard that it doesn't have the best spring or something like that. I haven't had any failures so far so I'll cross my fingers.

If you buy shit you get shit bud. Its a pretty simple concept. Just because the price is appealing and the advertizing statement spews bullshit like "omg 400fps!" doesn't mean its going to be an amazing gun from the start.

chances are its an easy fix. I'd disassemble it and check the hopup unit itself. Go to Mechbox.com and search out a takedown/reassembly video, The hopup bucking (the little nub that presses the rubber down) could be installed lengthwise and pushing the hopup down too far.

Well the JG M4 isnt bad, I mean Echo1 buys it and rebrands it, so it cant be that bad right? But yeah, the hop up might just need adjusting for each individual weight of bb. for example, i turn it up for .20s, but turn it down for .25s, vise versa, w/e. Its a matter of judgement, just fire, see where/how it spins, adjust, repeat

Echo1 does adjust the internals on it when they 'rebrand it', not as hot of a spring and better spring from what i've heard. Correct me if i'm wrong.

But either way, the guns aren't good. And you should be turning the hopup down for lighter weights, and turn it up for heavier . turning the hopup on adds more backspin, if you turn it up on a light weight your bb is going skyrocketing.

Yeah, i messed up with that one, but I think the only part Echo1 improves is the gear box...unless im mistaken as well

JG guns are perfectly capable and reliable guns.
To the OP - Don't worry about it. If it breaks, fix it.

I own a JG - Mp5 and a JG - System S M4, and so far, they have been great guns for me. Rock solid, lots of metal parts, acurate and fairly hard hitting.

Considering that these are just lowly "clone guns" (which seems to be a dirty word around here ), I personaly think that they are some of the best of the clones on the market.

For the price, you can do a lot of repairs on them, but so far I haven't needed to do any work at all to my guns.

just my 2cents

I've put tons of rounds through my JGM4 and so far so good... for the most part. I had to replace the cut-off lever because I was having problems shooting in semi (it would shoot auto), and I ended up replacing the hop up sleeve and bucking shortly after I got it and that made a world of difference in terms of accuracy.

Hop-up sleeves/rubbers/buckings are cheap and fairly easy to replace. If you don't suspect anything mechanically wrong with your hop-up unit itself, give it a go. A lot of people swear by the Guarder clear ones.

For the price you can't go wrong, especially if you're willing to put a little elbow grease and the odd buck into if something does go wrong.
