Outside
So I was wondering is it legal to go outside in a public area and shoot airsoft guns in Canada? Because me and my friends do all the time and I don't feel like getting in trouble.

Simple answer for Edmonton cause its the same here. No. Pus's idea would probably net you the most detailed explanation though. Either that or one of this forums many threads about it.

Someone just got in a lot of shit over in Victoria for pretty much the same thing, it was a relatively public place (his backyard) and someone called the police on him. Story in the newspaper and probably some bylaw violations (In the District of Saanich it's illegal to shoot anything thats "dangerous" pretty much including things like airsoft, pellet guns, cross bows, etc. note that nerf and water guns are excluded since they're not really inherently dangerous so to speak).

Its usually illegal to discharge a firearm within city limits. And brandishing firearms in public is a big no no.

Please don't put me out of business by using airsoft irresponsibly. I would be very annoyed. I would also be very sad to hear about someone being shot by the Police because they were playing with a replica/imitation firearm within view of the public.

Normally I'm pretty patient with noobs...but dear non-denominational deity !!
This is one of those questions that as soon as you type the question and read it before posting, you should go, "Well now that I read it, that is a pretty fucking stupid question, of course brandishing a weapon in public is going to draw the police!" and then you cancel making the post that you could have answered yourself with a teeny tiny ity bity quantum bit of common sense. Now say you have a really good life insurance policy and you feel like suicide by cop cause you are too chicken shit to do it yourself....THIS PART IS SARCASM!

What would you think someones reaction would be to seeing people carrying a gun down the street or in a park?
If I carried around a katana on my back everywhere I went, people would report me ASAP to the PD. I don't know how old you are but seriously, go to your local paintball field and play there. If you continue to play in public areas I will guarentee you that you won't have a too good of a run in with the police. "An airsoft gun is treated just as if it was a real firearm when used to commit or attempt a crime." Please use common sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
