New motor is broken?

My last stock motor broke so I bought a new one a Systema Magnum Motor - Short for my SRC G36C Gen III.

This gear at the top of the motor is broken, the teeth had been worn out. Broken part outlined in green: http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/x...nt=systema.jpg


This motor only worked breifly and was quite expensive. :banghead:

How do I fix this? Do I need a new motor? Can I order that specific part?

you need to change the pinion gear for a new one. Most likely reason for teeth worn is the motor height not adjusted to the correct height. To change the gear you will need a special tool made for that operation. You might could do it withut the special jig but life is easy with it.

You can also do the same as I did, and cut the pinion with a dremell tool.

You will need to make a flat spot on the motor shaft for the new pinion anyways, so you can do that at the same time, with the same tools.

My Systema motor ate it's pinion pretty quickly. It was held on with an allen screw, and I replaced it with the CrMo one in the link above.

You don't need a gear puller to remove systema pinion gears. You should buy the Chromium Moly pinion gear or any other brand pinion gear that uses the grub screw style of mounting.

To remove the gear undo the grub screw and use a pair of plyers to pull it off the shaft. You could use a RC pinion puller but it's not really necessary for the grub screw style pinions.

Be careful when you install the motor into your gun. you need to properly set the motor height as the motor is rather powerful and you will easily strip or wear down teeth.
