It fails to be the best in just about every environment, just managing a passing grade in some environments and doing better than average in only a minimal number of conditions. It's a huge problem which also plagues UCP ("ACU") and other "all environment" camos ("Jack of all trades, master of none" ?) That in itself is fine except it got huge hyping from a handful of pictures which anyone with little more than rudimentary photographic knowledge could point out was massively flawed (I can make just about any camo appear to work amazingly well in the right conditions and lighting), and a lot of people swallowed that BS hook, line and sinker -- which is also the entire premise for claiming MC is amazing. There are shots of UCP/ACU working amazingly well (posted below for shits and giggles): does that mean UCP is a fantastic pattern? I think 99% of people know that isn't the case and you won't find an argument because no one's head got spun around by BS marketing hype about UCP. The US Army should have looked to their brothers-in-arms fighting alongside them in Afghanistan -- US Marines (MARPAT Des), Canadians (CadPat AR) and Brits (Des DPM) -- and clued in. At the end of the day it isn't about Noobtarn (read "MC") finally being accepted by a major military force, it's about servicemen whose lives will still be that much more endangered by having ineffective camo while performing their duty. Possibly the only pictures in existence of UCP working half decently: MarPat WL left, UCP right

Multicam, cadpat and marpat are at the top of my list right now. I agree the tests are "staged" but people have done tests in forests/back yards, and I believe multicam usually comes out close to the top.

as long as people can keep hiding perfectly in their backyards then we are zombie safe.

I noticed a lot of stores jumping on the multicam bandwagon now - for example the latest US Cavalry catalog has a whole new section in the front just for multicam.

On the topic of US military uniforms and camo, comes this- http://usmilitary.about.com/od/fy201.../funiforms.htm
Reigning in all the crazy fashion back into a 'standard' ground uniform apparently, with a couple exceptions for SOCOM. Just go back to OD will ya? |

I refuse to wear CADPAT or MULTICRAP. They both look horrid.

Section 352 of the act requires that all future ground combat and camouflaged utility uniforms be standardized throughout the Department of Defense. The goal, apparently is to keep US Military members from accidentally shooting at other US military members in a combat zone. So it will all be Air Force uniforms now?
