im trying to order some vests and misc (not guns) from ehobby asia. Is there some way to not get screwed over by shipping charges (from this place or any other place in the states)? Its at a point where the shipping cost is equal to or more than the item itself. Also what is the quality like on these EA gear products?

It all depends... Their shipping is usually quite reasonable. The quality of some of their gear may be less than stellar. The only gear that I have bought are King Arms hydration packs and Action holsters, which were both very well made, especially for the price. But of course neither are the EA Gear line that is their own. My strategy, which you can feel free to adopt, was buy one or two items to check the quality first hand before dropping a pile of money. If you do get some stuff do a review

EA Gear isn't bad at all. I have 5 m4 mags and a M6 Light/Laser module from them. It's actually a lot better than I thought; especially for the price. I also have a MOLLE vest from them, but I haven't got around to using it yet. It looks awesome though.

the bigger the box the heavier he item the more the shipping. buying internals from ehobby cost less in shipping then some of the local places and I can't explain that. match that with the low cost of the same midrange internals you can get local and it means savings. of course 2-3 weeks shipping so it shouldn't be anything time sensitive.

It's only ever $10 difference or so for express shipping...so you might as well go for that.

I haven't bought a vest from them yet but I'm looking to do so in the next week or so. But I have dealt with them twice already and shipping is reasonable. They charge more in shipping (what I speculate) is that they include UPS brokage fees. Last order was like $400 CDN and all I paid was less than $20 for GST fees. That was with Express shipping thou. 1 week to process and overnight shippment from HK to MB.

Let me know if you get those vest soon and try them out. Would like to know before I order.

As Canadians we are always screwed by "Shipping". I guess its something to calculate if it worth your while to get it or not.

ehobby does not use UPS. Even if they did, brokerage fees are always tacked on after it reaches the border and is never "included" in the initial shipping cost. Ordering a vest in Asia will result in a minimum 25 plus in shipping due to it's size and weight. Also, EA gear is sub par at best. I know it looks good and the price is tempting but it will NOT last very long. Also specs are off (MOLLE webbing is "about" an inch. sometimes a little small in areas sometimes a little loose) and stiching is poor. I've made the mistake of ordering a vest from them and the stitching is comming undone after only one season. since then i've only purchased flyye or pantac gear. It's a bit more expensive but it'll beat having to pay another 42.50 to ship a second vest to replace your crappy first.

Ehobby DOES ship UPS. But you're right, the fee is only tacked on once it gets on this side of the border. I would suggest that if you're going to order, ask them to use EMS instead as it's a whole lot better.

Also beware: Unless you're a little fella, those cheap vests are NOT one-size-fits-all... I got a couple from them last summer, and neither one came close to fitting, even with all straps at full extension (granted, I'm 6'2", 260lbs, but that's still part of "all", isn't it?)

Yeah.
the ea range is all china made... mostly unbranded.
And as they say, you get what you pay for.
but just thinking over the few kits i've got and baring a few guns i think i'm using 95% Ea range.
i have had the odd loose thread... and busted a buckle in 6 years of solid airsofting.
but as most of us should know by now... airsofting does requires a bit of maintenance and DIY.
so is no big deal for me to thread a needle and replace a bucket. lol.
all mags and half dozen scopes all running just fine.
the odd gbb mag leak.... but they all leak eventually... again the maintenance and DIY is the key.

shipping wise, i generally order small light packages and the shipping is always cheaper than others.
but things even out with others once you start adding gun weights to your parcel.
every 500g is a increase. so 2 bags of bb's would put a order up in 3 price increases... lol.

i stopped buying bb's after my first order. lol.
but for everything else... i'm game.

Agreed I've never tried on any Chinese clone vests that will fit me, as well as BDUs and shoes for that matter.

It may be free but it's slow and my orders took 3-4 weeks minimum while Ehobby and Redwolf orders got to me in a few days.

In my sitution my exact cost was shipping of $94 USD and $17 (odd change) for GST (at the door). So brokage fee must have been paid some how cause I didn't paid a dime for it. Not true for tracking, second I got the tracking numbers it told me that it left HK and on its way to me by air on the UPS site. Litterally I got it over night.

First order I got from Ehobby was the standard shipping fee and they used the EMS method but no tracking number.

I have ordered things from outside of country approx the same amount from ehobby but for computer parts and have paid cheaper shipping cost but then slap with a huge brokage fees and custom duties when UPS showed up at my door.

Yeah! China made clone vest aren't high quality so if you play alot you should invest some cash into gear that will last.
