Anyone use textured Krylon?

http://www.krylon.com/products/outdo...extured_finish

I was gonna try this on a mag and see but has anyone used this paint? I was thinking is would be cool on a mag for a little added grip. Thoughts?

Would not a roughly textured mag cause it to stick to other mags inside the magpouch, hence making extraction difficult?

Yeah good point. Its not like a rocky finish that you can buy. I have used that one on another project and it would for sure. This one looks way way smoother. I guess it would also depend on your pouch. I think the texture is more like a fine sandpaper. And i guess you may have to tape off the top so not to effect feeding. Hummm maybe ill go get a can and test it out. The only way to really know for sure.

The finish looks more like one of those worked metal chairs that some people have in their backyard for BBQ's and such.

Something that I've been planning to do though is to paint the top 1/4 of my mag for easy finding if/when I drop my mag. I've already lost one mag but found it after 5 minutes of searching so anything that makes it easier to find is awesome in my books.

If they have it think about painting the mag whatever colour first and the top 1/4 (the part that's hidden by the magwell when the mag is inserted) UN Blue, safety yellow, or safety orange for easy finding if/when you lose one of your mags.

I was thinking about painting a clear lowered KJW glock with textured black krylon to give it some extra grip. I wasn't sure how well it would seal, so I bought a can of regular black to spray over it, I'll let you know how it goes when I get around to it.

Has anyone used those Krylons in particular?

I've been looking at Rustoleum and similar products (Krylon Hammered Metal), trying to find something that'll give a non-smooth yet non-gritty feeling... sorta like how the Kalash AK receivers feel.

i just saw the "hammer metal" ones but got the textured Tan. Painting now. Will update in a bit. The "hammered Metal" one looks killer in on the can...but as always its hard to tell. I'm going with black on the top 1/4 or so and textured tan on the bottom.

Let us know how it turns out, I think the textured would look cool! I sprayed my shotty with Krylon flat-black, and it came out textured.. go figure! I did extremely short sprays so it went down like a mist. It isn't too rough, but not really smooth either.

So i started by priming the mags and i dont think it was necessary. I think it may have added to the small crack like effect. But it's kinda cool. Another thing i used that was great was the green painters tape and loose leaf paper to create a good line. I'm not the best painter but it turned out good. As for that textured paint... i would say it hold up to its name. Did a great job and the effect is there but not over the top. All in all i like it. I'd like to try that "hammered metal" paint.

Looks good!

I think I might test a textured coat on my hi-cap and then hit it with an ODish colour. (Won't be using the rattle snake in a game anyways)

I used "rock" textured Krylon on a helmet of mine. Turned out really good.

Only problem was, the Canadian Tire in my area only had Black "sparkle" textured Krylon...

It looked like a disco helmet when it was done - thank God I had a can of Camo Black Krylon to coat it with afterwards, LOL.
