Also pointing out we are using toy guns is a null point, If we weren't using toy guns it wouldn't be milsim it would just be a firefight with dead people.
How about these?
Good enough? But first let's do a cost compare. Box of those, around $137 gives you 25, then those smoke grenades cost $14 a piece. Compared to the homemade flare he made costs about what? $30 max? Which can be used at least four times. Probably more, then factor in how much you play, how long the sim goes for and all the other costs they are more efficient.

Actually, est retail price will be $10 for a pack of 2 or 3(not determined yet). And they could be used forever if treated right and not stepped on multiple times. :P They're very tangle resistant (I would say "tangle proof" but I'm not making that claim just yet, lol) and sturdy.

Of all the testing I've done, I've yet to get it tangled up or snagged.

Thanks for you support!

make a smaller version, without the casing, that can be dropped into a long m203 launcher and launched with a 40mm nade with no bb's in it. would need to be a fairly tight wad that would open up in flight not immediately when fired.

if it can be launched to approx 100ft, and not hurt anyone if shot with one at <20ft, then it might be something I might consider but still don't see the being overly practical. I could easily mark a target with a laser or a stream of BB's for team mates to zero in on.
