AEG questions
So I'm thinking of buying my first AEG in the near future and just had a couple of questions I wanted to get answered before I went out and bought one. The AEGs I've narrowed it down to are either an AK47, MP5 or M4.
So my questions would be which one of those AEGs is the easiest to fire from a prone position, which one has the most upgrade options and in the experience of those who know more than me which one will last the longest before it may need to be replaced. Thanks for your help |

The longevity of your AEG depends soley on how you treat it, how much you use it, and what upgrades it has. All guns are different. For which gun is the easiest in prone, i do not know, never tried it. But probably the MP5, or M4 over the AK, becuase they have smaller mags that probably wont rest on the ground.

M4 is definitely easier to use when you're close to the ground. I'd also say it has the best controls as far as mag changes and fire select is concerned, so it's easier for most people to use overall. This is getting more subjective though.
As for upgrades, externally the M4 is probably best, but there are plenty of AK and MP5 options as well. They're just not as readily available. Internally, the AK uses a V3 mechbox so if you REALLY want to push performance without shelling out for a mechbox machined from a solid billet, the AK is more likely to take you there. That said, the V2 isn't a slouch by any means. I'd say about 80% of airsofters here run (or at least own) an M4 or variant and many are upgraded and running fine. Either way, and AEG is an AEG. Pick the one you like the most, and you can probably make it work just as well as anything else.

I own both an M4 and an Mp5, by far the M4 is easier to shoot from prone. Also you can add a bipod and make it even easier.

By the way I thinnk an AK has a way faster fire selector switch ( much easier) than an M4 have you ever tried one tunabreath? It's just up and down opposed to turning it on a m4 like a clock.

Both are much the same when you get used to your gun.

Thanks for the input guys this then leads me to another question. I've heard that M4's have some barrel wobble does this affect the accuracy much or at all?

Only certain M4's. Depends on the brand.

That said, Hk and newer AR pattern controls (SCAR, etc) are even easier, as you only have to turn the selector about 30 degrees for each selection, as opposed to 90 on the M4. The main problem with Hk stuff is that I find the selector digs into the top of your hand when you're on full ![]()

pretty much none of the modern airsoft guns that are worth money have that problem. as you are probably thinking about getting a G&G, they do not have barrel wobble.

so this should be the last question I noticed that alot of the M4's take mini batteries is it possible to put in stick or small type batteries to get better mah's or is the only option to up the voltage (trying to find a longer lasting batt that works without going external)

If you hang a Crane stock on a M4 you can wedge in a pretty strong battery.
I have a G&P one with a 10.4v.

or you can always throw in one of those tiny ass 7.2v lipos which are small enough to even put in a buffer tube and as powerfull as a 9.6v large battery. also lasts forever.

What I have on my M4 is actually an external PEQ (wired forward) rather than having it wired to the rear stock/buffer tube.
You can stuff in a large battery and you'll be good to go.
