Gauging Interest, Chinese-Canadian WW2 Group

Good day folks,

Just wondering if there would be any interest from our Southeast Asian-Canadian community in putting together a unit based on Force 136. Force 136 recruited from many nationalities in the SE Asia theatre and came under the command of the British Special Operations Executive. As such the Force was involved in numerous types of operations from basic native village support to direct guerilla operations against the occupying Japanese, throughout Burma, Malaya, Siam, Sarawak and French Indo-China.

Brief History

There was a small contingent of 40 or so Chinese-Canadians trained just outside of Penticton, BC at the Chinese-Canadian Special Training School.

Willy Chong's memoirs and articles of Force 136

They are a small and largely forgotten part of the Canadian war effort, one that I think is long overdue to be given some proper remembrance.

Battledress, webbing and helmet or slouch hat can be put together for around $300US from WPG. Weaponry was a mishmash of whatever was available, be it British, US or captured Japanese. So any Thompson SMG, BA rifle, Garand etc. would be suitable until some British stuff materialises. I envision some guerilla based milsim events to come from this (opposition still has to figured out though) and some living history events.

This group will become a part of the Ontario Airsoft World War 2 Re-enactors if there are enough people want to make a go of it.

PM me if interested.

Cheers,

Yorkie.
