Yes that is the point of simunition. They want to keep the training as close to the real thing. Before it involved you putting a new upper reciever chambered for 9mm on an existing real steel lower. The ones that are being tested now require no modifications and are the actual size of rounds. Although i was recently told the restrictions on civillian ownership of simunition was expired. Can someone with more knowledge then me explain if that is true?

I recently saw a program on discovery HD (forget what it was called) but it was about air marshalls, and they showed that in quantico where they train they use airsoft glocks with metal kits. They had one of the instructors show the glock and how it works, feels and is broken down like it's real steal counter part.
It was crazy though the students that weren't playing pose as civi air travellers, and they showed one guy just get lit up in the face and chest when a "terrorist" lept behind his seat.

I think the show was something about "post 911 air security" it was right around the anniversary. hope it helps

If they do, it's bad news. So far everything used by LE and CF are off limits for general public

Back on topic... this isn't a chat about simunition it's looking for links or proof of airsoft being used in profesional training.

EDIT-that came off a a little jerky. Thanks for the help and keep them coming.

back in my militia days, we had a guy who actually owned and ran an airsoft company. we on several occasions had done training with airsoft stuff.
I was actually trying to push it through my battalion not to long ago, but with some new bosses in charge, I'll have to see if I can get that push again.
I recall cyclic attempting to do the same thing when he was in 2PPCLI, perhaps you'd like to enquire to him about how that turned out?

I know that airsoft guns (Mp5's and M4's) are used by troops in the US embasy in Toronto for training purposes. I can't give you proof.

Not really official useage but our old K-09 manager always had me bringing in my GBB's to simulate vehicle extractions and armed suspects for k9 training and to get the dogs accustomed to loud noises like gunfire.
