Well, maybe if the kid had no skull bone. But yellow BBs usually means 0.12g, and they rarely have the kinetic energy to break skin, especially from a springer pistol, which is by far the most common type of gun and the most readily available.

And we're telling you that you probably misremembered.
Or was the victim of bad reporting. Have to be fair, that happens all the time.

I dont believe the projectile from an airsoft gun can possibly be directly responsible for killing someone, unless it some how magically struck them in a very important nerve or artery.
Really the only way I can think of killing someone with an airsoft gun is bludgeoning them to death with it.

I've seen bb's embed in the skin but that's the most damage I've seen. I've heard reports of eye damage and players getting injured while playing but I've never heard anyone died yet bec of a direct hit from an airsoft gun. Mind you, some of the guys here have been playing since airsoft was invented (Damn, do I feel old)!
Now if there is any news that somebody does recall about a "kid".... That's the reason why we do our best not to sell any airsoft to any minors. |

It's Darwinian.

Physics much? The odds of killing someone with a Crayola crayon are higher than with an airsoft gun. Low end pellet guns carry more energy than most airsoft guns and most of those can't even kill a rodent in a humane manner.
To be deadly to even a newborn infant, you're looking at something that could take small game, which takes you to the higher end (>500 FPS) pellet guns; airsoft doesn't go anywhere near that. So short of some freak accident where someone has the muzzle of a highly upgraded sniper rifle stuck up his nostril or eyeball, or some equally boneheaded scenario, the likelihood anyone would die from airsoft is just about nil.

I second this motion. The Darwin Awards email that goes around every year needs new stories.

Perhaps the OP and his friends have confused themselves with pellet gun related deaths.
Which if I recall correctly have occured from time to time.
