Broxa Upgrades

Hi I'm relatively new to airsoft and as my first gun I bought the Aftermath Broxa, it has performed really well and held up to a lot of abuse ( i.e dunked in snow, dropped etc.). I've put about 20-30 thousand rounds through it and I'm ready to upgrade soon. I'm mostly interested in increasing ROF and have considered switching to a 9.6 V battery. My question is what upgrades should I consider in order to compensate for the higher voltage (if any) as well as what other stock parts I should consider replacing that are suspect in this clone. I've done some research and haven't been able to find much on the Broxa, nowhere near as much as the Kraken. I'm pretty handy but there is so much to absorb I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

my broxa is using 9.6v mini and it shoots fine

Morra December 24th, 2008 00:51

The broxa is a v2 mechbox so theirs plenty of upgrades. How much are you willing to spend?

Dragate December 24th, 2008 00:52

U could increase milliampage, get a higher torque motor

but then again rof and fps hardly do anything unless u have a nicer barrel.
It only takes one shot to hit someone =]

delta76 December 24th, 2008 01:00

I'm willing to spend around 200-300 bucks maybe a bit more. Good point about the one shot one hit, its really more about this becoming a hobby for me and getting to play around with taking the gun apart and having fun tinkering and scaring my buddies ;)

Dragate December 24th, 2008 01:02

for rof, get a nicer motor and a big batter, does broxa have big/small batter? Get like a 3300 mAH taht'll scare anybody haha

then for fps get a nice spring and a higher volt battery O_O

I still think upgraded hop up and barrel will do u better =]

delta76 December 24th, 2008 01:05

Should I worry about eating up the gears?

Impulse bought the batteries already hence the upgrades, Broxa takes a mini batt, not too much room in the stock.

Dragate December 24th, 2008 01:22

u got metal gearbox?

lemegacool December 24th, 2008 01:35

if you want to upgrade the rof put a 9.6v battery in and let it die on stock parts (could be long) then repair it with upgrade parts (don't forget to put sorbothane pad on the cylinder head for preventing the mechbox from cracking (v2 gearboxes are subject to crack just before the cylinder head!)

hope this helps!

delta76 December 24th, 2008 01:44

That sounds scary. Should I do that before starting to use the 9.6V battery to prevent the mech box from cracking or wait until after the upgrades?

lemegacool December 24th, 2008 01:46

ideally you should do it before and since you are at 30k rounds on it i would really recommend it! you can get a sorbo pad on airsoftparts.ca i own 2 of these in both of my ak's and they are sweeet make the gun a little bit quieter! and do you have installed metal bushings and reshimmed the gears? (important)

Dragate December 24th, 2008 01:51

doesn't voltage only increase fps?

lemegacool December 24th, 2008 01:54

dude you gotta understand that even with a nearly dead battery your gun is gonna fire at the exact same fps that it fires with a fully charged battery voltage and mah only increase rof!

FPS is not effected by the voltage of the battery.

Voltage also does not always equal a faster RoF for instance a 9.6v mini has less RoF than a 9.6v large battery.

lemegacool December 24th, 2008 01:57

haha double answer.. lol

It should reinforce the insistence to read more.

lemegacool December 24th, 2008 02:04

hahaha lol anyway i said all i had to say so...

lemegacool out

going to sleep...

delta76 December 24th, 2008 02:05

I haven't upgraded at all, I guess the bushings and reshimming are a good start as well as the sorbopad.

marcwhite January 25th, 2009 01:54

any suggestions?

my broxa shoots very low fps any suggestions to upgrade the fps to like 375-400?

Darklen January 25th, 2009 02:07

The Broxa won't last long shooting that hot, 350fps tops. Anything over that will eventually break the mechbox and you won't be able to utilize the fps for range with such a short barrel anyhow. The MP5 platform isn't a long range gun. Be better to get it to shoot accurately for the 100' or so range it has. A tightbore is the first order of business, matched with a decent hopup sleeve & bucking. What's the fps now?

delta76 January 25th, 2009 13:51

I'm interested in purchasing a 6.03 mm tightbore for my Broxa but I've read that some tightbore barrels have a slightly 'belled' end, as the inner barrel squeezes through a tight space in the outer barrel near the muzzle on the broxa I was wondering if I would be able to fit a tightbore through there or is the belling just an adjustment of the boring process leaving the diameter of the inner barrel consistent on the outside?

m102404 January 25th, 2009 13:56

Don't cut the Madbull barrels...unless you have really sharp bits/blades.
The mad bull MP5 barrel is too long for the broxa and aftermath outer barrels.

Either drill out the ridge in the outer barrel (doesn't do anyting anyways) or cut your inner barrel to length.

Don't cut any barrel with a pipe cutter.

Hacksaw, file, counter sink (aka crown) with a large drill bit.

Stainless steel barrels are obviously really hard to cut.

Buzzrexx January 25th, 2009 14:09

I cut mine fine, but I guess I have the advantage of being able to use steel lathe!

Ditto on NOT using a pipe cutter- it will pinch the end and make the inside of the barrel too small to fit the BB through.

Other option is to drill out the outer barrel, so that the inner barrel sticks out, and then attach a suitable flash suppressor.

Then again, all this is so much easier if you have access to proper tools.

If you're cutting your barrel, DON'T hold is in a vise, and just take your time to get a nice clean cut and finish the edge off with some steel wool.

My $0.02 on this thread so far? The first thing that you should do with your Broxa to make it a better gun, is to change out the barrel & hop up rubber, and to put in metal bushings and shim the gears.

I'd like a steel lathe...:(:(:(

airsoft parts reccomende an s100 spring to make it shoot 369 fps is that alright or will it be damaged?

That would definately put less wear on the mechbox; the spring that comes stock shoots around 400-410.
