Double-stack Pistol Magazine pouches question

Hello,

I am shopping around for magazine pouches (3) for my KWA USP Compact (link for reference http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=174400 ) to be used on mostly on a regular, non-battle belt for target practice.
I believe I would like open top, rigid\Kydex pouches, that could if desired be mounted on a vest or battle belt in the future.

Looking around at products available I have some questions I am sure most of you can answer easily.

I believe that I am looking for double-stack compatible pouches, but in some cases, double-stack caliber options are presented on retailer sites; does that make any difference for an airsofter? If it does, which should I look for, and which to avoid?

Example(s):

1 - http://www.tacticalgeartrade.com/cqc...ase-black.html

2 - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/223...-and-w-polymer

I do not believe it makes a difference as long as it is double-stack, but, that is why I am asking here.

Thanks.

It does make a difference. Airsoft pistol mags mimic the fit of the actual pistol so if what you've got is based off a double stack then you need pouches to fit that.

x2 when going rigid. With soft stuff sometimes BFI can kick in and it can be forced. Not always though.

You could always talk to a custom Kydex gear maker to come up with a solution that works for you and the gear you have instead of using off the shelf gear

I personally don't like double stack as they widen your profile. There are several options out there that are adequate. Check out DS Tactical in New West BC, they are an amazing retailer.

I personally reccomend the HSGI Taco pouch. It can adjust to fit almost any pistol magazine, or you can get the longer ones if your mags are bigger/longer, etc. They don't come in a double pistol variant, but they are designed to stack and there's AR/pistol double stack variants.

Another place to get HSGI gear is Ripple Industries in Richmond Hill, ON. Tom will order anything you need.

^+1 Thomas is nice, prices are bit more expensive, but sometimes if you buy a bit he'll offer a 10% discount.

In any case.. DS should have their annual sale soon, so ...

In that case, is my KWA USP Compact based on the 9mm version (which I suspect) or the .45 or .40 ?

Note that in all three cases the overall height and width of the firearm (not the mag) are the same, as per http://hk-usa.com/hk-models/usp-compact/

It's a double stack sized mag.

Not much single stack out there. 1911s, some older 9s from the 50s, then some of the new gen concealed compact stuff.
