vest
hi i have been looking for a vest for a while(finding one for someone who is 6'1 and 280 is tough ) and i have made up my mind on what i want(CIRSS), but i only have about $300 for gear. so that leavs me with about $100 for a vest i think im going to go with ebay banned. what io would like to know is has anyone had any experiance with the EB MAR CIRS (Normal version / OD ) http://www.ebairsoft.com/cirs-normal...on-p-1884.html
or should i turn the other way. any help with this vest or finding another would be much appriciated. hemi |

Disclaimer here: I don't have experience with that vest, so what I say below may not apply... but generally it does.
Next: $100 is a pretty low budget for a vest. You can get one for it, but it isn't likely to be of good quality. Cheaper vests tend to rip, break, snag, fray, etc. For a budget of $100, you might be able to find something of good quality in the ASC classifieds. There are usually good deals on good quality gear there. In order to access them you have to be age verified, you can read up on that process here: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=49408 Edit: Actually, I'm not sure if you need to be AV'd to access the equipment classifieds.

Im gonna echo kalnarens remark of the cheap vests. Whenever possible avoid places like ebairsoft for things like vests. They won't last long and you will just have to rebuy another one. Always remember the old adage "buy cheap, buy twice" which 9/10 applies to chinese made knock off items like vests. Id highly recommend going to a local surplus store and investing in a higher quality vest as it will end up paying for itself over buying lower quality knock offs over and over. I know people that bought vests from ebairsoft and within 1 hour regretted buying it.

$300 is a pretty low budget for gear if you want a vest as well. You might consider going to a surplus store and look at maybe a web belt with a few pouches for mags (can't see it running you more than $50) for the time being, and spend the rest on a set of BDUs, goggles, and boots.

I'm going to have to go with everyone else.
FIRST thing I have to say though is IT CAN BE DONE. However the caveat is that you'll have to settle for used stuff and possibly lower quality stuff on that kind of budget. Pantac/Phantom will probably be your best bet as far as this kind of stuff goes. It's still a China clone but the quality is there. A full setup of a Pantac vest + pouches will probably cost you in the area of $200-250. Also think about it. You don't need "real" stuff since it's not like we're going to war or anything but there still is a kind of a minimum requirement on quality. Don't be buying some cheap crappy $20 vest that will break within the first hour of use or within a few days of use but you don't need to be buying stuff that's made for the real world. So working with your budget here I could probably suggest this: Vest: $150-175 (Used with a some pouches so you don't have to purchase many more) BDU's: ~$50-80 Mask: $30-50+ Then you've got ~50 to spare, I'm assuming here you already have things it would be pretty reasonable to expect from a Canadian like hiking boots and stuff like that. If you could give us a list of what you'll think you need we could help you budget for different pieces of gear.

need more info....
- what kind of gun are you using? ( MP5.. AK.. M4.. etc) this can influence your choices) - what is your play style? Do you like crawling around, or not. Some rigs are no good for belly crawling. - What look are you going for? do you have a particular country's military force you are trying to do an impression of. I suggest getting someting quality, and if it is out of your budget at present, save up for it, rather than get something you don't really want/need/works/fit the impression. Make do until you can get what you want. And research as much as you can. You will be happier in the end. I can tell you huang (ASC retailer) has a very good quality CIRRAS mar vest. I purchased one (OD) a couple months ago, and it is great. Color is good, stitching is good, Cost was about $150. ish plus shipping. See if you can try someone else's CIRRAS to get an idea of sizing. You will likely need a large one. Size adjusting is easy, just takes a bit of time, unless it fits good out of the box. I like my CIRRAS rig, even though it is a bit heavy, I have everything I need with me. It is comfortable, and does not shift around. I have my pouches where I want them. And it looks badass.(LCF:P) And I have my setup such that I can belly crawl quite easily with it. Easier than a Wasatch, which I also have (That too is a huang's) I have an assault pack with hydration(3L) on the back as well. I run at least 10 mags, extra batteries, BBs and loader, a side arm/4mags, food, and a few other things. I still need a compass, and radio, a knife sheath, and grenades. But will easily have room for them as well. CIRRAS + gear = heavy = good excercise/realism.

EBAYBANNED vests aren't bad, though I doubt their quality control so for $100 you might get a great vest or one that the rest of us wouldn't pay $30 for. Your money, you decide whether or not to take the gamble, Personally If i didn't find my vest for cheap in the classifieds (a pantac vest, VERYNICE) I'd probably be buying one of those cheap ebaybanned ones.
And going to repeat the boot part, no matter what else you get you'll need good boots If your willing to spend the little extra coin to protect your ankles, and run in style/comfort I highly suggest one of these http://www.oneshottactical.com/Merch...tegory_Code=BT Last edited by AngelusNex; December 5th, 2009 at 12:36.. |
