GBB 1911 firing related questions

Okay, my 1911 is supposed to come in today, and I have a question about that.

On a real firearm, if I insert a magasine in it, but dont rack the slide, and cock the hammer manually, there is no bullet in the chamber. If i fire, it'll go CLICK! and thats all. no bullet fires, the slide doesnt come back, the hammer isn't re-cocked, it just goes click!

on an airsoft gun though, what makes the slide to blow back is not the pressure of the explosion in the chamber, but rather the gas that comes from the magasine. with that said, if I dont rack the slide but cock it manually and have a loaded mag in it... if I fire, the gas will shoot right? but what would happen? the gun would act as normal, but no round would fire, and then the next one will shoot a round? can it damage the gun?

also I know that on a real gun, If there is no bullets in the mag of if there is no mag in the gun, I know it can damage the gun to just let go the slide with the slide stop lever cause there is no bullet to act as a kindof shock absorber... on an airsoft gun, is it also damaging or not? maybe the recoil springs are not strong enough to risk damaging the gun... and if it is, is it also damaging if a loaded mag is in it? as a BB is so light it wouldnt absorb much shock compared to a bullet... I would think it does not damage it since it is basically what it does every time you shoot it... But I still wonder if its bad for the gun to let go the slide without BB in the gun, or if I should ride the slide back to prevent damage...

I hope I'm clear in my questions, english is not my main language so please be indulgent

You are correct on the first part, cocking the hammer with no BB chambered and a mag full of BB's will cause blowback and a round to be chambered.

It will not hurt the gun to release the slide with no mag in. It has the same effect either way.

Okay, so instead of racking the slide after inserting a fresh mag, one could just fire a shot to chamber a BB... less realistic, but less time sonsuming than racking it... in the heat of battle it wouldn't change a thing, as when you reload, you will either still have a BB in it, or have the slide locked back, so you would have to use the slide stop lever anyway... but in theory it is possible...

Thanks!

I would add as a tidbit, the WE 1911s (and possibly other models), and makes derived from it such as SOCOM Gear (maybe others as well), have a mechanism which require the slide be racked before the gun will shoot. i.e., inserting a new mag into an uncocked gun, cocking the hammer (without racking the slide) and pulling the trigger will give you a *click* (even if the mag has gas and BBs).

I mention it because it caused me a WTF moment the first time I tried one (just gassed up the mag and wanted to blank fire a couple of shots to make sure it was working ok, so I didn't bother racking the slide). I feared all sorts of trouble (broken firing mechanism, mag that won't hold gas etc) but eventually figured it out.

Well....I think that idea is kind of stupid. I'd rather release a slide or rack a slide, but that's just me.

Also doesn't waste gas if you need it to fire all the BB's in your mag.

Very good point, specially if its a single stack 1911 you got.

The TM does not though. I tried one last weekend, which is exactly like the one I'm getting, and the guy told me not to rack the slide as there was already a BB in the chamber... He told me to just cock it... and it did work. note that I did remove and reinsert the mag before...

anyway, you guys are right, it may be more gas effective to just rack it, and cooler too. lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if there's a BB in the chamber, it has to have been cocked at some point no?

you are wrong!!!!

lol. on a real gun, yeah. cause the bullet shoots by itself. on a GBB, it needs the mag to shoot. so if you chamber a BB, remove the mag, shoot, it goes "click!", then put back the mag. you now have a decocked gun, a full magasine, and a chambered BB.

on a real 1911, you can only put it on half cock... unless you do some really unsafe manipulations... lol like shooting, but preventing the hammer to hit the firing pin with something... and then removing that someting with extra care... lol. that would be WAAAAAY less safe than just leaving it cocked, with thumb safety on... lol.

I'm a little bit lost in there but that's what I experience with my TM 1911 MEU and WA SVI series.

I can cocked the gun and take out the magazines then when I fire, it would sound click but if I insert the magazines and just pulling the hammer to fire position then my gun is hot and ready to fire. I don't need to pull the slide all the way to cock the hammer again since I already load the BBs before.

Let say if I fill the magazines and load the BBs then load into gun and cock my hammer and my gun can be fire but it would be blank fire, NO BBs coming out and if you pull the trigger again then your gun will fire BBs.

Hammer loads valve knocker,

Slide action strips a BB and puts it into the chamber.

You need both of these things to happen to fire a BB out of the gun.
