EAP? Why them?

So lately I've been interested in getting my own pistol. Now, I've never seen an EAP before so I have no freaking clue on how they work or if their any good! So does anyone know anything about them? If so, mind passing on some info about them and why gas pistol is more popular than electric airsoft pistol.

Reason why I want an EAP is because I fine gas smell really bad and their expensive compare to Charging a couple of batteries.

If there's any post about these guns in detail I'd love to go read about them! Please give me link though.

Thanks!!!

The problem with AEP's is they're weak fps. Small batteries mean they have little staying power as well. No blowback either, or if they do, then they're even weaker then normal.

GBB's fire hotter, last longer (or rather are much easier to refill) and, due to blowback, are much cooler. The only reason pretty much anyone gets a AEP is to have a sidearm for the colder months. The only way to get a good performance AEP is if you start going into the borderline smg area like mp7's or mp5k's.

Expense is a part of this sport. And anyway, a good AEP is going to be about the same cost as a good GBB and still won't have as good a performance as even a cheap GBB. As to the smell, you'll get used to it. Hell, outdoors in the heat of battle you won't even notice it.

If the smell of propane bugs you, buy a GBB and run it off duster, then you won't get bad smell and you'll get a higher velocity than you would from an AEP.

I use cheap CO2 NBBs for the colder moths + when My GBB craps out, and CO2 doesn't really smell all that bad. I highly advise that over an aep as aeps are incredibly weak (did a neo matrix bend backwards dodge to avoid an entire mag fired my way... on auto.... from only about 30 feet....)

Expensive? Can of Coleman gas that's lasted me 4 months cost around $4...The propane adaptor was like $15 or something.

If you compare a GBB to an AEP on an expense basis, you'll find that gbbs really give you a nice bang for your buck.

Perhaps theres a non stinking gas that you can get yourself that won't cost more than replacing those batteries (which do wear out by the way, especially if you don't pay for a good charger).

Its called "Girl Fart" (Green Gas, or Red Gas or something like that). Way back when, there was a guy named Tru that sold it, however AFAIK he's gone for good. I think he got burned really bad or something and decided to leave the community forever (word is though, that he sometimes shows up to games and browses the forums he just isn't active on the forums).

Anyways, I actually bought an AEP on a whim, it was an impulse buy but I have plans for it. I don't game it or anything it's just there as a wallhanger/look cool thing.

EDIT: I do have a GBB that I use to game with the AEP is really just a wallhanger.

AEP's are the work of the devil.

the whole awesome factor of the pistol is the blow back.

Uhm, personally, (if you have not gotten any good answers that these fine people have given, and I don't see why not), then I would say: AEP's are probably not the best way to go. Like "Kuro_Neko" said, they use small batteries, so they do not last long, and VERY low fps.

I would go with a Gas Pistol. They are semi-automatic. Maybe the "TSD M9 CO2 Gas Non-Blowback Airsoft Pistol"? Around only $40? And personally, I like it.

But, when you get into the "blow-backs", (the realistic ones, where the slide cocks back on its own), they suddenly become like, more than $100 more...ATLEAST! But, they are "semi-automatic", and almost, no wait, ALL THE TIME, WAY more powerfull, and VERY accurate. (For both, the blowback, and non-blowback airsoft guns).

I think that the "KWA KP45 Tactical Gas Blow-Back Pistol", is very good...Either the old, or the new one. Uses green gas also...It is what I have, (both the old and the new...well, actually, correction, I had the old one, and sold it for money for the new one).

So, all in all, if you want a VERY low quality, un-accurate, and low fps, Wal-Mart-Like- pistol, get the AEP, but if you want to invest, KWA!

Oh yeah, P.S....SOME people might think that the blow-back takes away from accuracy from the "jerking" of the "automatic-cocking slide"...(wow, that whole sentenced just sounded weird from me, just because/from the works, "jerking" and "cock/cocking"), But it depends who you ask. Everyone here I think would agree that more expensive guns, for one, and gas-blow backs are the way to go!

On a slightly unrelated note, I thought the given term was EBB? Or atleast that's the one that kinda was used locally way back when I started.

EBB (Electric Blow Back) or AEP (Airsoft Electric Pistol)

Note that all EBB's are AEP's but not the other way around as technically the TM MP7 (which seems like the only good AEP to get) is an AEP but it is not an EBB.

AEP's are garbage, for CQB the GBB pistol owns all.

Have to agree with L473ncy, the only decent AEP is the MP7, and that only if you plan on using it as a pistol. It definitely isn't a contender against the majority of AEGs, save maybe a stock MP5K.

As a pistol, it performs like your average pistol minus gas issues in the cold and similarly gives you full auto capabilities without having to deal with cooldown. Used in this capacity it's great.

EBBs are junk and make AEPs look good.

mmm I got a TM M93 for like $150 or something...
pretty good deal if you ask me...
the BB actually flies out pretty far cause of the very nice quality hop-up, but it goes so slowly you probably would want to keep targets very close.... It's not like they hurt; I shot myself barefoot with one.
get an AEP if you already have a GBB.... or if you live in the territories or something.
I still think they're nice guns though.

I still play with my Glock 18C AEP. (CYMA), got it with a leg holster, and like 4000 .20 BB's for like $90.
