DPMS M4A1. JG? Or JG Clone?
I have been reading up on the JG M4A1, and it has come to my attention that the DPMS is just an American rebranded JG. The Jing Gong is a TM clone, so I figured that the DPMS would be the exact same, considering that it is as JG.
Naturally, I assumed that TM mags would work in the DPMS, but I have just read on another thread on here that the DPMS isn't compatible with TM mags, despite the fact that the JG is. This is the specific gun that I am talking about: http://www.businessvision.net/edge/M...&CategoryID=72 Note that it says "JG Clone" Now, isn't this 100% the same gun? (minus the all black) http://velocityarms.ca/index.php?mai...roducts_id=197 It says that it is "100% compatible with Tokyo Marui and related clones " So is the DPMS the exact same as the JG, with a differnt brand name? Or a poorly made clone of a clone? |

this is sorta confusing I agree, I've heard that one version of the DMPS panther m4 whatever you call it, is a JG rebrand, and then others say its plastic gearboxed POS, then others that say it's a Well rebrand, perhaps there are different versions or something

We had a few DPMS carbines in the store a week or so ago. I picked one up to show it to a customer.. Im not quite sure what happened to it, but the Delta ring had cracked in half. The threaded cylinder portion of the ring was still on the upper and the other half just kind of.. floated around. along with the rail system.
..id let DPMS perfect their products before buying them, lets say.

DPMS is a firearms company not an airsoft one. they have licensed their name out to cybergun who in turn put the DPMS name on airsoft and clearsoft guns. the DPMS a17 and the kats or on duty things are junk, the A-15 is the rebrand of JG/GB meaning they buy it from JG and put their name on it not they cloned JG so it is not a clone of a clone of a clone. They have also made ISC metal receivers branded DPMS

Also Air Gun Source does not include S/H in that price and last I checked they wanted a ridiculous amount for shipping so expect the prices to even out after S/H is added vs. buying from frank.

Yo Dawg; I heard you like clones. So I cloned your clone so you can clone while you clone. The thought of clones of clones kinda freaks me out. It's like incest....you get crazy inbred Deliverance-style hillbillly guns.

Tex, you aren't being completely clear. So both guns that are linked are the JG with the DPMS label? meaning it would function the exact same ast the Jing Gong, and is compatible with Tokyo Marui parts and mags?

I've worked on one of them..
Complete crap. save the extra hundred bucks and get a G&G clearline over it. |

I don't understand how the JG can be so highly looked upon as a clone, yet when it is rebranded, it is instantly called crap. Is there something that I am missing here?

I get the feeling people call these guns jg clones and allow speculation so that they can feel better about their pos guns

This is JG's old stuff... It is crap, 100% undoubtably crap. They've sold off all their old stock of mechboxes and parts to another company who is re-branding it
Newer JG stuff is alot better than this stuff... but I still would take a CA, G&P or TM over it any day. |

Replace the piston head with a modify polycarb piston head and that's a decent starter gun.
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=88937 I should be doing a reveiw of a gun that's probably VERY similar to the one you linked me to on the VA website. The one I reviewed there.. is the 2nd highest version I believe. Last edited by Amos; September 4th, 2009 at 14:42.. |
