With a LIPO expect to spend about $115 for an alright 11.1 volt 2000mh+ battery.
If you have never used lipos before Read up on them as they are not your average battery. Buy a good charger and balancer. Stay away from hobby zone stuff, its shit. |

Fuuuuuuuuuuck no. I've been using Zippy Lipo's for a year now, with no problems. They cost $8 + shipping and tax. 7.4v 1600mah 20C batteries wired to Deans connectors, smaller than a 8.4v mini NiMH but with more power than a 8.4v Large. You can get them here: hobbycity.com For a charger, I recommend the "ELITE 6i AC/DC Charger + Lipo Balancer" from www.cheapbatterypacks.com, as it can charge LiPO, NiMH, NICAD, Lb... etc. It's about $120 landed with shipping and tax in. All of these "For Airsoft Batteries" are ridiculously overpriced and often very sketchy as they haven't been proven in another sport. Zippy's were made for RC Planes and have a long history with the fliers in the US, who have given a large number of reviews on hobbycity.com. If you're in Toronto, and you want to see them, come to a game I'm at: I'll gladly show you. |

$8 eh... I will have to look into that as I need to replace some Lipos for my RC planes. Good info.
I was going off some of the pricing I did in some hobby shops when I was looking for lipos. I since gave up on RC planes for airsoft, can't afford both and for the 10 minutes of fun 1 battery was going to give me, airsoft seemed like a more sound investment. |

just reading some reviews on those zippy packs, your only looking at about 30-50 cycles from them. Where as the ones I was looking at were well over 150.... so twice the price for 3x the cycles. Now again thats in RC planes which are going to have alot more constant draw.
The could be fine in airsoft guns. Just never let a lipo drop below 50% voltage I think it is, or your fucked. Well the battery is anyways. |

ShelledPants is right, this isn't the only hobby that uses batteries. I saw the prices for canadian batteries online from airsoft stores and went straight to my RC buddies. If your lucky one will be able to or know some one who can sell you a charger (RCers see a fair bit of drop outs) for a decent price. If you don't know any check any hobby store or sight and just read reviews on batteries cuz whats inside is what matters.

I've dumped close to 10,000rnds in a year on this battery, and it's still going strong. I have another in case this one goes. Quote:
I have a friend with a 7.4 5000mah in a RPK, and he hasn't charged the battery in 6months, still going strong. This is NOT the best way to treat Lipo batteries, but it does say something about them. |

I'm curious, they have a lot of mini or nearly-mini sized batteries, but I haven't found any stick or buffer tube style ones at the hobby websites. Are those only produced by airsoft battery brands?

Huang, a retailer on this website has buffer tube LIPO batteries I'm pretty sure.
