A .177 air rifle?
I was looking through some Canadian Tire catalogs and noticed they sell .177 and .22 air rifles. Now, I know that a .177 air rifle fires 4.5mm pellets, and supposedly they can fire plastic BBs.
My question is; is it safe to be firing a .177 air rifle, loaded with plastic BBs, in an air soft match? The one rifle I was looking at claimed to fire at around 495 fps. |

No. Absolutely not. Airguns/BB guns are not airsoft.

keep in mind that it fires pellets, which are significantly heavier than your standard bb; the velocity will be a lot higher on your standard .20g.

LOL that's assuming that he can get his 6mm airsoft bb's to fit in the 4.5mm inner barrels

There are 4.5mm plastic BBs, which will still mess up your day.

Not to mention the 4.5mm plastic BBs and pellets are lighter than the lead pellets used to clock 495fps: they will produce substantially faster muzzle velocities.
