Changing receivers
Hey guys, im thinking about getting the G&G GR16 R4 Commando that comes with the plastic lower receiver since its difficult for me in finding a full metal M4. However, Im planning to purchase/install a full metal receiver. Will all metal receivers be compatible with this G&G AEG?? Thanks guys

Changing the recievers are very easy. Depends which metal body you get. Higher cost of the metal body = the quality of the metal body (KingArms, G&P).

Thanks for your reply Hitman. So I know that the higher the cost of the metal body, the higher the quality of the metal body. Do u know which metal bodies are compatible with G&G M4's? Thanks

All of them except for systema I would assume. And you would be getting a top and lower reciever so they would fit perfectly together anyways.

Just be aware when you get a metal body, you do not always get the hardware for it, it's usually just the body. Armalites (M4/M16) for example typically do not come with body pins, dust cover, fake bolt, trigger guard, sights, charging handle & spring or mag release. You have to get these either from the gun you're replacing the body on (providing they're not cheap shit and are compatible) or from hardware kits.

Dboys is the lower end of the metal bodies. They're cheap, readily available but also have some issues with fitment. Expect to do a few modifications on the body to get everything to work (I'm still tinkering with one here).

Would you be able to give me some sort of idea as to exactly what type of modifications you are having to do with a D-boys metal reciever for proper fitment..I'm guessing a dremel tool is essential?..I am thinking of a D-boys metal reciever just because of the availability...will it be more of a headache to work with ?..would it be advisable to try to locate a better quality reciever..just to avoid the potential frustration?..EDWARD

Can a real steel 80% finished lower reciever be fitted for an AEG?

Very unlikely. A PTW can take modded upper receivers but that's about it.

I have a friend on here that is a land weapons tech and he has a PTW with a real steel upper and he has been talking about the specs of an 80% finised lower being compatible with some mod to fit the lower part of the PTW. Can you confirm this?

I kinda doubt it, because a RS gun doesn't have gears...
Anyways, G&P is probably the best, then King Arms, then CA. |

I see full metal M4's for sale in the classifieds far more often than M4 recievers.
