Metal bushings

So... My metal bushings don't fit my mechbox casing -.- Then I saw some metal bushing fitting tools on airsoftparts... Is there a way to get them in properly without buying tools+shipping? Thanks!

What mechbox shell do you have, and what bushings did you buy?

G&P shell, element bushings.

I've had the same issues, unless you ordered the wrong size bushings they should fit.
For myself I placed the bushing over the hole of the box, took either a philips screwdriver(thats the 'X') or a screw pick. Place the head inside the hole of the bushing and hammered it in. Not too hard obviously as you don't want to damage anything, but they all went in after some persuasion.

i had fitment issues with element bushings. get modify bushings they slide right through with no hammering.

If they're like other element bushings that I've seen...toss them and buy a better brand.

Otherwise...if they're a tight fit, take a punch or the end of an allen key that's just about the same size as the bushing and push it staight in. If they're pressed in cockeyed...they might bind the gear axels.

If they're really tight...a good wack with a hammer will do it..but be sure to support the other side of the mechbox shell or you'll warp the shell.

A bushing tool is the best and most consistent. I have two...the AI version (THANKS CARL!) and the Promethus one.

So how often would nylon bushings last before they destroy my mechbox since that's what I have in now after the element metal ones wouldn't fit even with hammering

ive gotten my jg nylon bushings for atleast 4k rounds (2-3games) with 330fps spring.

So you mean 4k rounds before they melted or you still have them installed after 4k rounds?

i changed them after, but i think they could have lasted quite a bit more. they should hold up if your not shooting over 350fps.

I had 50k rounds on the plastic bushings in my JG MP5 mechbox, and they still hadn't failed or shown wear at that point. The gun shot 330-340 fps.

stock power (~280-290) to low 300's (i.e. 310-320), short bursts or lots of semi...plastic bushings will last quite a while.

I built a mechbox firing 1300+ rpm, hooked it up to a large 9.6V battery and held the trigger down until it broke (basically one long full auto burst). Just for fun and too see what would happen. It lasted about 3500-4000 shots before the bushings failed and the gears stripped. The mechbox (more so the cylinder) was really hot.

The plastic bushings that survived seemed a bit loose (i.e. the axel holes were worn and the axels would jiggle in them)...the ones that failed cracked and the axels went right out of position, leading to the gears crashing/stripping.
