Starting from scratch
What up guys, me and a few of my buddys (six of us) have been getting pretty bored of Call Of Duty and wanna get into Airsoft'ing? (if thats what its called?) I live in Mississauga, Ontario (right outside Toronto in the GTA) and I've been finding it pretty hard to find a decent site to answer my questions. Which are;
1) Does anyone know of a good store in Mississauga or even Toronto that sells very good quality guns and gear? 2) Any good groups or events? I heard a guy at a surplus store in Portcredit saying something about where people rent out an old building and play some sort of Zombie game? Sounds like a trip - anyone know about that? |

For gear any surplus store will do.
- Army Surplus sells pants.... (he also does Age Verification IIRC) - Other websites for gear are anywhere and everywhere however airsoft guns themselves are a bit harder to get a hold of unless you are Age Verified. Do NOT buy guns from international retailers or you WILL get a letter from CBSA. There ARE walk in stores, however they only sell upgrade parts, gear, surplus and such. Huang at Oriental Centre has gear, vests, rigs, and such.

It gives you access to the for sale boards on this site, which is the easiest way to get guns in Canada.

Being Age Verified for Airsoftcanada.com allows you access to the buy/sell section of this site. So you can buy guns/gear.

Sorry to hear you are also in Mississauga.
That army surplus store you heard about is Army Issue. Its at Lakeshore and Stavebank (two lights west of Hurontario). He can do your Age Verification so you can look at the restriced areas of the board (Buy/sell, events and games sections). While your there he can answer most of your questions you have about the sport. Hes also got tonnes of gear to get you guys started (vests, goggles, camo, BDU's, etc..) And he takes his coffee black by the way. |

On the other hand, if you're looking for a kick-ass, wallet unfriendly outdoor hobby with a good community to boot, than welcome to Airsoft in Canada. I recommend you go to a local game and especially the TACC09 event coming up. You'll meet tons of great people, be able to check out gear and guns first hand, and get AV'd so you you have access to the classifieds on the site here. I should also mention airsoft is in a very grey area of the law in Canada and due to the fact our country is overrun by soccar moms and people who think those of us that play airsoft are training for a terrorist militia, only ever play at sancationed events or a truely private field. Never in public view.

This forum is alot more live than I thought, thanks for all the replys - me and my buddys are hopefully going to the event in Toronto tomorrow. Also it was Army Issue like buddy over here said, he's the one who told me about the Zombie game. Small store on the corner with its own flag lol and he has a pretty jokes dog too. Also I'm not thinking its like Call Of Duty either, truthfully only reason I wanna get into it is to prepare myself for Marshal Law - this whole 2012 thing has got me all nervous lol no I'm joking, I just have a few of those BB guns from Walmart that are clear and played with my buddys in a forest near my house. Cops stopped us all the time, but only to tell us that their "illegal" than let us keep playing lol Also, how intense do these games get? Like, do alot of people show up, get all tacticle about it?

It might seem like a joke to you. If you tried that with non-clear airsoft guns, they'd likely be confiscated and you could possibly be charged.

Ohhh.... That was a bad thing to say. You should NEVER be stopped by cops. If you are then you're doing it wrong. It's fine and all to play on a secluded farm with the neighbours knowing what's going on and being fine with it and police knowing what's going on so they don`t have to send in ERT to find out it`s just a bunch of guys playing with toy guns. (If a bystander does walk over and see you guys and call the cops I believe they are mandated to check it out and they'll only send one cop to check it out since they know what's going on rather than having to send a full ERT team decked out with everything and wasting money)
Also depends who you play with and what the kind of playstyle is in your area, it can go anywhere from speedball to full out milsims and reenactments. Mostly it's tactical skirmishes and "woodsball" kind of games though.

A word of advice;
Don't play in random forests, especially near anyone's house. Keep it to games at the proper venues, generally the cops don't show up there unless it's to play, or search for someone else (there was a video around here of RCMP [I think] at a game on a manhunt for a subject). Also, if you get verified and end up with non clear bodied AEGs and play in the woods, the cops probably won't just ask you to stop if you know what I mean. You seem a little more intelligent and mature than some of the people who post for the first time, so you should do alright. You're fortunate to be interested in the sport now, with TAC09 tommorrow. You can get verified and outfitted in a day and playing next week.
