Alternative to TV.
I plan on building a CADPAT loadout and I've read on these forums that the CF Tactical Vests are shit. So I was wondering what you all would consider a good CADPAT alternative to the CF one.
Thank you. |

CP Gear and ICE Tactical both make excellent rigs in CADPAT TW/AR.

I believe there's a CP gear kiss rig in the classifieds. Personally, I use a Tiger Tactical vest.

In the Canadian Forces chest rigs are fairly popular; aswell as Rigs that are like webbing and theres also guys using the CP Gear mofocr and the TT Modular Tac Vest. Coyote Brown Arktis vests were also issued to some guys as part of a Tac Vest replacement trial.
Myself; I have a Coyote Brown SO Tech Hellcat MK3 with the padded shoulder harness an wear it like webbing. An with enough pouches(TT, TAG an CP Gear) to carry 10 mags; 2 frags, 1 smoke, flashlight, and IFAK an a accesory pouch to carry a bottle of water or MNVGs. For my unit; what we got passed down before tour for acceptable colours for kit were OD, Coyote Brown and TW an AR CADPAT. I had a buddy who had a multicam chest rig though an no one said boo, also helps when you're outside the wire in a place the BG CO an RSM don't visit too often if at all. Like Mike said, chest rigs and webbing are pretty popular when not wearing the TV. Some of the trial vests that have come out have trickled through to regular use, otherwise it's the CPGear, ICE, TT and HSGI rigs.
Inside Canada I've seen mostly the issued vests (a little modification here or there) but my BC wears a Warlord out.

Would an Olive Drab or Ranger Green MOLLE vest with OD/RG pouches mesh well with a CADPAT BDU?

I would say so.

I've had and USED one for the past 4 or 5 years of airsofting and it has done more than stand up to the job at hand. It is built strong! I've used other brands of vests which have literally fallen apart when pushed hard. It fits VERY well, with lots of adjustment to ensure a proper fit. Couple this vest as a foundation for some add-on mag pouches (which I purchased from CP Gear), and it is now a stellar load bearing system. I have a solidly built, well fitted vest, with a good mag holding capacity with all the added pouch widgets one could need for the typical one-day airsoft affair.

I think the biggest problem with the vest was the low mag capacity. Like you said, wedge insert mag pouches are available from CP Gear, as seen here:http://www.cpgear.com/StoreBox/tacve...ories/4046.htm

Haha, now I'm undecided again I like the look of a CADPAT TV but I like the ability to customize with MOLLE. I do realize that CPgear does make a CADPAT MOLLE compatible LBP but I like my limbs where they are.
So it's go with what's comfortable or go with whats... well, I dunno. I won't be using Hicaps either for multiple reasons so the 4 mags wouldn't cut it and I don't know if 8 mags is even enough. Last edited by AS92-RD; February 8th, 2009 at 14:39.. Reason: Part about the mags added |

Don't forget you can carry spare ammo and bomb up in field
And there's also the ICE vest to think about...

I got's a MODCAN vest from Dropzone Tactical. Very good quality kit from those guys. Have probably over a grand worth of kit from them. Basically it's a full molle style cf tacvest without any pouches.
