CA90 vs. Echo 1 E90

Hello all, I'm new, anyways, I'm looking into buying a P90 but I don't know which one to buy. From what I hear, Echo 1's E90 is a pretty decent gun, with a high FPS (~350) however, they currently don't have a version with the integrated RDS. For that reason alone, I'm wondering if I should buy the slightly slower FPS (~330) and cheaper Classic Army 'CA90'. I'm looking for the durability and higher FPS of the Echo 1 gun, but possibly with an integrated RDS receiver, instead of the TR one. In your experienced and knowledgeable opinion(s), which would be a better gun to buy, and would it even be possible to replace the Echo 1's TR receiver with a regular RDS one?

The Tri Rail version allows you to instal your own prefered optics.

The RDS in the conventional P90 is less than Ideal in my opinion ..

A TR allows you to mount a Eotech or another aftermarket optic that has greater performance.

I had the oppertunity to try out the tm rds and id have agree with brian they are less than ideal. I own a tm p90 tr with my own optics and have to say it's the better way to go. Also keep in mind the echo1 (I've read) cannot be modded for j battey. Not sure about class. arm. My modded tm fires at 360 w/ .20 and rof of 16/sec. I've also ordered the echo1 but haven't used it yet.

I started out using a P90. I had the TR version that I eventually converted to the RDS then back to the TR. As Brian stated above the RDS is far from ideal unless you go the road of installing a real steel one. Your best bet is to stick with the Echo1 and place some good optics on the rail.

The CAP90 will be light years ahead of the Echo 1 P90 in terms of quality.

Keep in mind the CA P90 is the Sportsline series which have internals more on par with JG / Echo 1 than standard CA stuff. However, the external plastic and overall QA will be better on CA. There's a reason why the CA P90 sells for the same price as the E1 and not the price of a TM.

According to a Q&A with CA as well as the comments from several major Asian retailers, the only thing changed is the exterior. It is EXACTLY the same internals as a normal full metal CA gun.

Well that's good to hear, actually. Should make for some fine internals. Usually their Sportsline have lower grade internals. Not crap by any means, but lower end gears and non-reinforced gearboxes. Too bad the receiver is plastic, but should still be a great gun for the money. And at 1/2 the cost of a TM, you can't go wrong. So I guess that means the main body will be made of ABS instead of CA's normal fibre-reinforced nylon in order to cut costs.

From what I have heard, yes, no fiber reinforcement for sportline (but not 100% confirmed)

well even is it is a lower grade plastic - I can't see it giving up after a short amount of time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a TM or other brand replacement be fairly easy to find id the plastic was to give up?

P90 receivers can be hard to find but its not like it will break down in one game. High density ABS is the same stuff TM guns are made from and the TM P90 is really durable. I wouldn't worry about it breaking unless you really smash it, its just that fiber reinforced would be even tougher.

Even the ABS used on the Echo 1 P90 is pretty rugged stuff. I don't feel like I have to baby mine in any way, shape or form. I'm sure CA's ABS would be just as good or better. I wouldn't be concerned about it. Although I have to say that reinforced nylon is one of the big selling points with me an CA. Without that, it knocks it down a big notch.

Personally though, I'm still quite fond of my E1 P90 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice gun with a full metal upper at a really decent price. As for internals, it has 7mm steel bushings, reinforced gears, metal spring guide, and aluminum piston stock, and comes with 2 mags and a 9.6V battery in the box. Ad it shoots 350 stock (started at 365-370 and then settled after a couple of hundred rounds). To me, that's a winner right there considering the price.

I am very fond of the full metal of my G3A3(TM rifle, CA metal body) so I can see myself upgrading the P90 to metal at some point down the road.
