Any gun docs in Kingston? Help required
Ok. It pains me to ask this, but I'm at the end of my patience. I can usually do things myself, but now I'm at a loss and in need of assistance.
I recently bought a used mechbox for my C8A2 here on ASC. While the sale post didn't implicitly say there was anything wrong with the mechbox, it also didn't say that there were any issues with it, hence why I bought it. Still waiting to hear back from the seller about it. I'm assuming since he chronied it and it fired 375 fps (with a tightbore, so probably 350-ish spring - about an M100/110) that it worked at some point. But that aside, this is what's in it: - TM gears - Element metal bearing spring guide - JG spring (about M110, as with a tightbore, the former owner said it shot 375) - Element polycarbonate piston and bearing piston head - Element metal bearings - Modify metal cylinder head - Modify tappet plate - Deep Fire airseal nozzle - Modify anti-reversal latch (I installed after the fact) I didn't have the proper connectors when I first got it, so never got to try it out before today. I firsted tested it with a 9.6V 3800 mAh... It turned over a couple of times before locking up at almost full compression. I disassembled, opened to release the spring, and tried again. Wiht the 8.4V 1500 mAh crane stock battery that the gun will be using, I get a tick, and nothing moves. I tried a 9.6V 2000 mAh battery, and can get it to crank back about 1/2 of a cycle, and that's it. I suspected the shimming might be an issue, so opened it up and reshimmed it. Now, I'm no expert on shimming, but did it to my other guns and they all work fine. The gears seem to run smoothly with minimal play. But once I get it all back together, I have the same issue. I even tried installing a stock CA spring (shot 310 in my M15) and same result. I've now opened it up a total of 9 times tonight, and still no luck. I'm losing patience fast and getting ready to throw this thing through the fucking window. I need assistance from someone in the Kingston area ASAP, as I want to bring this gun to Border Wars to give it its maiden field use. If there's anyone in the Kingston area that could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, stand down on this. Seems like the problem is electrical. Noticed the insulation on the wires both inside and outside of the mechbox are chewed up at several spots. I fixed one of the bad spots and it now fires, although heated up enough to melt a wire on my battery (no fuse). I have all the wiring from a TM mechbox that I'll transplant tomorrow.
At least now I know I'm not totally lame and I did the shimming correctly.

Ah i didn't see your second post, but yeah if a wire is exposed and is grounded on the mechbox chances are it won't fire :P
