Anybody seen this before? ¤ Stuck BB ¤
So my friend's CA SCAR CQC just stops working in the middle of a skirmish.
1st thought, battery.........nope. 2nd thought, fuse? I just opened it and found a blown fuse. Good enough. So I touch the fuse clamps together and pull one on semi. Motor clicks but doesn't turn over. Long story short. SCAR's opened up and I see this.... Yes, that's a .25g, 6mm, BB Bastard BB SMASHED behind the the piston. Where should I go next? Is there a way to release the tension without opening the mechbox? I don't want to perform a double bypass on this beautiful new SCAR. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Had it happen to me. Guy at a game actually had it happen to him too and he showed me how to get rid of it.
first you gotta unlodge the bb, use pliers, a knife, whatever, just get it out of there however you can without damaging the piston. Once thats done and you've verified that the mechbox isn't screwed up in any other way, turn the lower receiver upside down and look into the magwell. you'll see towards the front there is a gaping hole, and you should be able to see the front of the mechbox. take some paper towel/tissue paper and stuff it in there, making sure not to impede the front nozzle. This way that hole is covered, and no loose bb's can make their way down behind the piston. Trust me, its a simple yet effective fix. |

Turn the gun onto it's left side down and pull the bb out with pliers (that way if you slip it won't fall into the mechbox). Take a really good look with a bright flashlight to see that there aren't fragments in there. If there are, open'er up and clean them out.
Once the bb is out...you should be able to cycle the mechbox now that nothing is impeding the piston. If there's a really stiff spring in there, the startup torque of the motor might not be enough to pull the piston back from it's 80% pre-compressed state. Make sure the batt is fully, fully charged...and if that doesn't do it, you can firmly pinch the back sides of the piston with your off hand and help pull it back will firing...(just like racking a pistol...it's pretty unnerving when it does fire...don't drop it! ) MadMax had a great suggestion of using a rod pushed down the nozzle end to push the piston back...I'm sure that's a bit unnerving as well. Now that is weird next to Drache's jammed bb flash hider. lol.
Well removing the BB, and the shooting it again will unload the spring. The BB is just stoping the cylinder from moving back that's all. |

Another option:
take off the grip and motor and pull the anti-reversal latch. The piston should go forward and the spring will de-compress giving you a bit more room to work. |

Okay, now I know how that happened.
You were running your hi-cap magazine, and the lid probably opened when running or something, and the BB went thought the holes and got into there. Am I right? Hmm, there is a way, just not sure if m102404 said about the rod thing. But you need to find something that will fit through your nozzle and push down hard onto the cylinder all the way and it will come back up. If not, try Amos idea with the anti-reversal latch. If that doesn't work, you would need to open up that gear box. Maybe there can be bits of broken BB shattered in there, that causes the gears to seize up. The spring might be a no no, and you may lose some power. |

Well from what I see, what also could have happened is when he pushed the mag in, it didn't lock: so he let the mag drop an inch and then pushed it back in. That would have given the magazine lip enough room to spill the BBs from the hop up but not let them fall from the magazine well. It could happen with any style of magazine.

That works. I did that when the gearbox on my C8 jammed up. Easier than opening it up... And it would be a better solution in your case...

it is just weird how the bbs can travel inside the mechbox through the nozzle.. it just doesnt make any sense if i haven't experienced it myself :P if the bb crushed and the fragments get inside is possible, but the whole bb?? can anyone explain??
