Real steel pistol grips also will not fit. They are too thin.

Real steel that works:
Side rails
Gas blocks (Boring out required)
Sight blocks (Boring out required)
Wood grips/stocks (Modding required)
And, well thats pretty much it on an AK. Also getting real parts can be hard since the real steel AK's are banned weapons here. I once had wood grips seized because the package said "AK47" on it.

That's moronic. Should have appealed it, they have no right to seize wood grips. I had an entire AKM front end (made for TM), with real steel foregrips, gas block, gas pipe, handguard retainers, front sight, and muzzle brake shipped to me. It was stopped, inspected, and let through.

And yes, pistol grips are a no go unfortunately.

The machinery cover? Like, the upper? What airsoft AK were you trying it on? Where was the cover manufactured?

Doesn't matter. All/most AK top covers are the same length. Airsoft ones are several mm's longer. Unless you weld on more metal, real steel top covers don't fit. Tested it myself. AND own a real chinese AKM top cover that has been extended.

Even when extended it's not a perfect fit, as it's longer in the rear area, not the front. So you end up with a gap in the rear of the safety (when the safety is on of course).

Most airsoft AK AEGs use the same length top cover. I believe the ICS is about a mm longer.
