Modify Modular Gearset on STAR SCAR delux, will it work?

I couldn't find much information on star scar gearbox's if the modify modular gearboxs will work. Does anyone own this particular AEG, if so let me know i wonder if its as easy as it looks. Pop it in and put in the screws? ...

Can someone else tell me how they compare to say guarder or systema high torque gears? Are they worth the 100$?

I believe they will only fit in certain mechbox makes such as TM and maybe kingarms? I know TM is for sure. The price you pay is the cost convenience for easy to drop in gears. They are good quality gears, with a very creative set up. Many have purchased and only few have had issues.

I cant see now but if I recall correctly Jugglez has the modify full tune up kit for around 100 Canadian I believe it included gears, piston, spring and spring guide.

Unfortuently I can not confirm if they will work for you in the scar mechbox.

ah i hate having to do trial and errors. I've done it too much in the past. It seems like a sweet upgrade considering the new battery i'd like to install.

Edit, im confused as to the way this website adverstises it.

so its ONLY for 6mm gearboxes? but the picture indicates u can have 7mm bearings...

There's 6mm and 7mm bushing versions (and airsoftparts carries just the bushings for them if you need to swap).

The "problem" that's arisen from the modular gearsets is that some gearboxes (the reinforced ones, specially 7mm) have more material inside them which prevent the frame of the modular gearset from fitting.

If you look here you'll see what I mean:

That looks like a Systema mechbox. Notice how the spur gear (the one on the left) fits inside a sort of well: if you look at the frame on the Modify modular gearset you'll notice there's an arm with a supporting crosspiece which extends behind it.

Compare with a stock Marui gear box which is wide open inside:

Here's a picture posted on Tantec.ca showing it not fitting:

So it really depends on how your mechbox is built. Never worked on a Star, so I dunno.

That's the version 2 from a STAR M4A1. If the SCAR uses the same mechbox, it should give you some idea as to whether it'll work or not.

Should work.

Star Mechboxes are made like the TM ones, but they are thicker at the front (where it usually cracks)

I saw one in a Kraken mechbox, fits 100%

I took a few measurements of my high speed modify gear set. In case you want to check the holes for positional fit. Measured from center to center of gear holes.

Not crooked but bushing is removed. On JG boxes you have to leave the bevel gear bushing that comes with the modify kit off because it won't fit (says in the printed instructions). What you see in the pic is the piece that holding the bevel gear onto the frame.

Fox hound, I have a good feeling that Jugglez would know if it fits or not. Maybe Pm him when he gets back.
