CA M14 Match Shooting Problems

I just got my gun upgraded with a stiffer spring so it shoots 390-400fps. I just got it back today and not only is there a hesitation when I pull the trigger before the gun fires, but when I switch to single auto, 25% of the time, the gun won't even cycle nor make a noise.

The guy who did the upgraded told me that I need a battery with a larger mAH. I've got an 8.4v 2400mAH in there now and just ordered a brand new one a couple days ago as well getting ready for the milsim.

Any clues on what could be happening? It was working fine before he added the spring and the new hopup sleeve. Is it a battery problem or did something go haywire with my trigger assembly?

Disconnected the battery, hooked it back up, and tried single shot again. It worked fine for about 5 rounds and then stopped totally!

Could this be a problem that maybe a 9.2v battery would solve?

Is your battery properly charged? sounds like your losing power from it, if the bat is dead, after leaving it for a bit it throws out some juice then quits...

HAH, up yours Saint :P

Just charged it right before test firing the gun. Sadly I don't have a new battery until August 3rd, two days before the milsim.

battery could be fucked... wait till the new one comes or try to borrow on to test it with and confirm if its the battery, if not, could be bigger issues at hand..

The battery was brand new about 2 weeks, only charged twice, before sending the M14 off for a month and he only charged it twice to test fire the gun before sending it back to me which arrived today. I'm hoping it's only the battery. I'm going to call a friend and pay for the shipping to borrow one of his batteries to test it out.

SP120 spring, as for the motor all I can find in my book is "high performance motor serial number OP2002055, the new battery I had ordered which arrived at a friend's place (3 hours away from me), is an 8.4v 2400mAH as well. I'm also about to order an 8.4v 3300mAH from Calgary to replace this one.

I've got the current battery discharging right now and will recharge it once it's done. On my charger there is a switch that reads 1.8A or 0.3A, could that be the problem with charging the battery?

Which setting are you using to charge the battery?

Is there any way for you to chrony your gun? Just to make sure it's not a mispackaged spring.

The guy chrono'd the gun before sending it back and said that it was about 420fps but would drop about 20 once the spring was broken in.

I haven't touched the setting on the charger since I bought it. I've used the 0.3A to charge my batteries and all have been fine so far.

The guy who did the upgrades said he really thinks it's something wrong with the trigger assembly which is NEVER a good sign.

For a 2400mah battery, you should be charging on 1.8A, not 0.3A.

+1.. as I said earlier about inproperly charged battery its not getting a good enuf charge to pump out sufficient power to run the upped spring, I am at work lol, so responses are widespread. Good team work Saint.

Ok so odds are it's probably a battery problem! It will take 2-3 days for my new battery to arrive so I'll update then.
