USP - brass barrel piece and frame disassembly questions
Hi Doctors.
I'm trying to take apart and diagnose a problem with my KSC USP full-size. Two items that I was wondering if anyone can help with. 1) For the barrel assembly, parts 14 15 and 16 look to me like they should be pushing the barrel upwards. However, they are all just stuck together (I assume that the spring part is stuck in there at least; all I can see are the brass "cup" and the brass knob embedded in it). They do not seem to want to come apart, even when pried with a small screwdriver. Should I resort to superglue/pull/sand off superglue to get them apart or is there a trick I'm missing? 2) The frame. I can knock the pins out at the trigger and at the bottom of the grip, and I got the screw at the top of the frame out. What sort of trickery do I need use to get the safety lever off? Many thanks in advance! --Pete/MG |

ye i did that, hyper compressed it is what i call it. all i did was held the brass cup upside down with a pair of needle nose pliers and beat the back with something else to shock it loose. it will work, but be careful as the spring will pop out and its tiny and black, very easy to loose, and specific lol. another methode is get a tiny pair of needle nose and get the tips inside inbetween the cup and the poppet peice and pull out, but thats if you got a small enough pair.
i had a hell of a time intalling this myself, what i did was set it in place on the new barrel, slid in the inner barrel, and then used a bent saftey pin to coax it down and out of the way for the rest of the barrel to slide in... make sense? lol. |

Yeah, thanks for the tip Swatt13! I'll try that out when I get home Sunday night.
Can anyone else offer advice on disassembly of the frame? |

Don't. Its a huge pain in the ass. Why are you trying to take the safety off?

I want to get the frame disassembled to clean it out. Some dirt and grit managed to get into it.
Just for the record, I'm halfway competent with GBB's in general; I can completely take apart a TM Beretta, a KJW Para or a WA Para (because I owned them and I tried). I'm just having trouble figuring out how to get the USP apart without forcing anything too much. |
