Ver 7 question
Is there any way to buy this mechbox online? I'm going to try starting a little project and it's the only mechbox that has the right shape to it for the gun I'm planning to build. Also, another question; am I correct in assuming I will require an m14 hop-up unit and outer barrel?
Thanks. |

Right now, there is only the G&P 7mm re enforced gearbox or somehow sourcing a replacement TM gearbox available. You can easily get the G&P version at any of the big online store in the "International Retailer" bar.
And, yes, you need an M14 hop-up and inner barrel. I don't know how you will be able to find the hop-up unit...

that would depend on the project he has in mind. I would recomend the TM M-14 hop-up as I feel it is one of the most precise units to date. however any hop will work as long as your able to mount it properly to the mech box/receiver assembly. If you could elaborate on what exactly you have in mind you will find that you will find a great wealth of experience and expertise here on ASC to assist you.

The project I am planning is the PPSH 41
For those who do not know it was a Russian SMG in ww2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PPSH I plan on making it compatible with the AGM MP 40 mags since they are fairly abundant, and PPSH's were converted to 9mm in real life. I was thinking on buying real steal parts but they are extremely hard to find and I imagine there would be import difficulties. Shouldn't be too difficult for me to scratch build the receiver and stock, since I have all the equipment necessary, only problem I see is the hop-up. You can see that the the mag is quite some distance away from the trigger, much more so compared to the m14. So the way things are positioned the gear box is not going to be able to connect up to the hop-up. I'm not that experienced with internals so maybe there is a simple solution to this. Also, can anyone direct me to a place where I can find blueprints of this rifle? I have blueprints for the receiver but not the stock. |

You can possibly move the gearbox up further and use a trigger bar to reach from the physical trigger to the gearbox's trigger. It's done in various other AEGs (such as the AUG and P90) when it's required to reach a gearbox that doesn't line up with the existing trigger.
A v6 gearbox may also be suitable for your application, depending on the dimensions. |

I can't seem to find the m14 hop up on wgc, but based on pictures I have seen it looks to be a bit large. The part that goes into the mag goes out too far, if you look at the ppsh there isn't a whole lot of space between the mag and barrel. looking at various hop up units, the P90 looks about right. Would it work with this design? Or is it different because the P90 is a bullpup?
About the trigger bar, where do you find those? Or will have to fashion my own? |

Fashion your own. It's essentially just a metal rod, shaped to fit from the trigger to the mechanical trigger on the gearbox.
btw, you may want a bit more experience with the mechanics of various Marui guns before undertaking such a project - your eyes will be opened up much more to the possibilities that exist for what you wish to achieve. I don't normally recommend someone unfamiliar to the devices to start off with such a dramatic project, but if you have the desire, all the more power to you. |

If you want example of rod for your trigger bar, good old famas has a rod that connect mecbox to the trigger. You may want to chek it out might give you good idea.
