Li-PO battery ???

Hey I need a big battery to go into my upgraded AUG so I think the only battery that will get me 10.8v and a descent Mahs is a Li-po.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

I understand I need a different charger, is that right?

Is there any cons I should be aware of?

Thank you

Closest thing you can get is three cell 11.1v. Make sure you get a charger which does cell balencing and also get a pack with taps for cell balencing. Recent release Lipo packs and chargers can monitor charge status on individual cells to keep a pack well balenced and prevent deep discharge or overcharge of single cells in the series.

You'll also have to work out your own low voltage cutoff to prevent deep discharge when your pack starts to run low on juice.

how? I maybe just an idiot but I really don't understand this, will I need something that will shut the battery off when it dips to low or do I just have to pay attention to this?

11.1v = sweeeeet ROF

All cells need to charge and discharge equally or you will have a nice flamout of the battery and lethal gasses to kill you. You also need a charger that will charge and discharge at the right rate. Also a 7.4v is fine .. It comes down to the Amps that the battery puts out in semi and burst. Also an 11.1V will really
damage internals if they arent beefed up alot.

I have systema torque up gears, bushings, spring guide w/bearing, Bore up kit, systema piston and a m140 spring. I was really looking at getting a big battery to drive the mechbox and up my ROF a bit, but then I can't find one to fit in my AUG so I figured li-po is the way to go.

I have a battery sling, but it isn't comfortable in anything other then CQB, and I tried a battery bag it just felt "off" with my ciras on and if i tried the other side it was in the way of my arm, I just don't think the bag works well on an AUG plus I hate the look.

I am thinking of putting a big battery in a pouch in the back of my CIRAS and then use a CIRAS gun sling (the one that attaches to the CIRAS set up) and running wires through the shoulder padding, but i would prefer not to have to have both my gun and vest to make my gun work.

Don't really know yet, but i know I wasted cash on a battery sling and battery. At least it feels fine with my MP7 or MP5

Jay it's kimbo. You really have to be carful when using Lipo batts. It's super easy to toast the cells and irreparably damage them. (*read* start them on fire...heh.) As mentioned, you'll need a low voltage cutouff circuit that monitors the voltage in the cells and cuts them off when you hit a lower threshold. If you don't you'll also toast your cells. A special charger is needed as well and, low and behold, they aren't cheap. After you get all the carging and monitoring ccts figured out, running your gun at 11volts you will do mad damage to your internals. You can definately make it work, but you will have to do a bunch of tweaking constantly to make it happen. Do a ton of googling on this, as there is alot of info out there on the pros and cons of combining these cells.

Disappointing... I guess the AUG is hard to mount on.

Have you tried (I didn't see it mentioned in your other thread) the large custom battery?

An 8 cell 4 on 4 stack?

I have that one currently but I thought something with more Mah would be a better bet.

Consider this video before deciding a LiPo is what you want next to your face.

...so if you run out of bbs you can cross the wires on your AEG and toss your gun at the opposite team and take a few out along with your AEG...

Bear in mind those are serious intentional failures that you're not likely to see on the field, however it illustrates the potential for serious injury in a worst case scenario. I feel LiPos have their place in airsoft but I don't trust full sized cells in AEGs just yet. There's a big difference between having a failure in a remote car or plane several tens or hundreds of feet away versus having it adjacent to your head and appendages.
