Where can i get something similar to this? And will it work with a Hurricane replica? I use a 552 replica if it makes a difference.

I hate the blobs of tape stuff they had to use... Bruce makes custom covers for EOTechs but they fit in the hood so don't work unless yours has the protective hood. I'm working on a design for mine (1st gen Bushnell sight) that doesn't have a hood so that I don't have to use tape. BB's will shatter like that in the front lens of practically any sight, I've tested 430fps guns on aimpoints, scopes, and conventional civilian RDS' from Canadian Tire.

Making them out of acrylic (Plexiglass) is easy since its so easy to bend but then it'll only be able to stop a couple BB's before it starts cracking. Ideally you want polycarbonate (Lexan) but its a bitch to bend and form in anything but a flat sheet. If you want to make one like the one in the video go get some polycarbonate from a plastic supplier and cut it to shape. They didn't polish the edges from what I can tell and they used probably at least 4x the thickness they need. It doesn't take much polycarbonate to stop a BB, I have 1/16" clear sheet and BB's can't even scratch it.

Because of the different lens shape of a holosight it wont work nearly as well as it does for round sights like the ones Amos makes lens protectors for. It'll still work but the tape wont be able to hold it as well so a couple hits may cause the polycarbonate protector to go flying. Also short of sending Amos your sight it'll be a bitch to get all the dimensions right, probably best to get a piece of polycarbonate (easy enough to find in and major city, just gotta know where to look) and dremeling it yourself.

If you take a picture of your sight, And give me measurements on the bottom; the sides; the top, and across... I'll see what I'm able to do.

Albeit; it'll most likely be a little more than 10 dollars... because It'll be much harder to match the dementions... Rather than just using the tool I've got to cut the materials round.

I made a protector similar to Bruce's design because Bruce didn't have any available at the time. I used a piece of thin paper as a template. Trace the shape of the glass onto the paper and cut it out. Works perfectly.

okay, but is there a manufacturer that already does this?

Amos itd be hard because it tapers, so it might be hard to do.

I doubt there are any real manufacturing companies that do it. Personally I don't see why you can't do it yourself. A square foot of 3/16 polycarbonate is maybe $10-12 and a dremel will cut it albeit slow. Its not much money or work to do it yourself.

ya. well the real ones are still really strong, i picked up a protector from bruce just in case. when you spend 400 bucks it would suck to crack one.... the hurricanes thouhg, you might wanna pick up a protector, there prob not made to the standards that eotechs are.

Bruces fit into the hood over the lens, not all the replica's I've seen have the same hood.

the hurricanes have the hood... bushnells ( which were developed by eotech) dont have a hood.
