Mini AEG internals?
Here is a strange question. I have this silly nerf gun I bought to shoot my cat when he climbs up on places he's not suppose to and when he refuses to be intiminated by anything other than a foam dart. (he's gotten good at stilling all my darts too!) Anyway, while needlessly tinkering with it months ago I managed to break the damn thing. I've changed to water pistols since and the thing just sitting in a box somewhere.
It is a pretty cool looking pistol. with some black/grey primer and an airbrush this thing could go a long way. Some interesting examples... As a silly little project when passing buy one of those awful crosman mini aegs I thought wouldn't it be interesting to put that inside the shell of my broken maverick? Of course it wouldn't be very practical or field-able and the turret wouldn't be able to rotate anymore (maybe make that the magazine?) but it seems like a fun project. What I am asking if anyone knows where I can find information on mini AEG mechboxes. I haven't been able to find much since they aren't exactly popular. Dimensions are important as well as I want to keep the gun's shape fairly stock. I'm not to interesting in performance as I'll be impressed if I manage to get a bb to even leave the barrel. Cheers. |

Damn, nice paintjobs! That would be fun at XT for springer matches. What's it called and where can I get one?

It's some chinese knockoff company and crappy plastic, not like hasbro Nerf, serious fucking business. edit: More insane shit My little 5 year old cousin has this and it looks nothing like it. (this is all the same guys work) Last edited by Moz; March 6th, 2007 at 01:34.. |

that is what I wanted to find out. Otherwise I'll have to go up the next step to lpeg, which cost an arm and a leg in canada. I don't want to spend to much on something that is likely not to work anyway.

even so, by eye balling the dimensions of the UHC MP5 Mini I could maybe fit the a cut down full body inside the maverick. The nerf pistol is massive. For the age group it was designed for it is a 2 handed weapon. the main body under the slide is 3cm wide so it would be a tight squeeze.
Heh, if this maverick thing actually works I might even invest in putting real AEG internals inside of that mag fed rifle thing. (long shot or something) ...of course my paint job would likely suck ass in comparison. There is a serious lack of sci-fi airsoft impressions! Some of these nerf mods are ridiculous. I wish I played nerf when I was a kid. edit 3: Haha, this gives me a little insight! edit 4 this should prove to be a useful resource. Last edited by Moz; March 6th, 2007 at 02:46.. |

i'm really interested in how they did that worn metal/scratched metal look. i have a feeling it would need a airbrush kit, don't think that could be done with a can of paint and steel wool. those examples make me want to buy a $20 nerf gun and cover it in $200 worth of pain.
neat paint tip: chalk board spray paint produces a funny, powder-ish like texture thats great for grips. it is a very unique texture, although it scratches easily |

worn/scratched metal effect is obtained by dry-brushing a light or metal color on a dark base.
use an old brush and no water or blender.keep it dry - works better with acrylics. |

sanding, modelling paint and a black marker.
... on the bright side it only costs 15 bucks so I can just throw out this ugly mess. |

just coat it lightly in matte black spray.
then you dry brush it with any acrylic grey,od or silver. use a very dry brush (that will be destroyed afterwards) you should go from the mess you have here to something correct. Dry Brushing: For dry brushing I use a dry stipple brush or a round fabric brush. As with the dry stipple technique the brush needs to be completely dry. Apply a tiny bit of paint to the tips of the bristles. Using pressure blend the paint into the bristles on palette using a circular motion. This brush loading technique is the same as the dry stipple technique, but move out of the blending strip to remove most of the paint from the bristles. You should have virtually no paint on the brush. To apply the paint onto the surface, use a rubbing or scrubbing method. Last edited by Jimski; March 6th, 2007 at 16:36.. |

Hasboro should have a new slogan for the Nerf guns:
Nerf: Don't Fuck With Us.

still no news on the mini electric front. Maybe I should be looking towards just slapping that awful gravity fed mp5 that you can get at Canadian tire. I just don't want to pay that outrageous price for it. (50 bucks, isn't it?)
edit: Looks like the Crosman Pulse M70 is the ticket. (the motor is not build into the grip, which is important because of the maverick's grip design. still need to figure out feeding though. Oh god I don't want to pay 50 dollars for this piece of shit. Does anyone have the misfortune of owning one of these things that would like to donate to my project. or at the very least sell the thing at it's actual worth :S edit 2: this is looking less appealing (50 dollars for a lack luster AEP!) When I could just do this with the gun I already have. I wish it wasn't so obvious with the magazine. Definitely need a way to cover up that barrel. Likely will have to put real rails on it to mount optics. And then I'll need a futuristic impression. fake edit: These nerf bolt rifles are rare, and I don't want to spend more than 30 bucks on one. edit 9 million: seems the TM line of boys gearboxes may be the way to go I'm just not sure if it is thin enough. I also need to get a new dremel because there is a lot of useless junk inside this maverick that needs to be cut away. Last edited by Moz; March 7th, 2007 at 14:30.. |

This thread is on a collision course with awesome.
Just waiting on a dremel kit my girlfriend is lending me. Also: Active Surplus, Queen ST, south side just west of CityTV. Also, If anyone wants a the body of a super shitty cheap china garbage P90 ment for 3 year olds, I'm the person to ask. Otherwise, I'm considering putting the nerf internals and making an awesome nerf gun out of the body May paint it blue and yellow too. |
