AK47 Dragunov Upgrade

I am converting my TM AK47 into an AEG version of the Dragunov. I have already ordered the conversion kit and have a good idea how i want it to look. I want to shoot .36 beebees at around 425fps. My question is... what would be the ultimate setup for a mechbox to deliver high accuracy, and range at those speeds. As far as inner barrels go i think the 595mm 6.03tightbore PSG-1 inner barrel should do me good.

If you want to shoot .36s at 425fps you're likely to be shooting over most field limits. You may read that their sniper limits are something like 450fps but most of the time these limits are based on using .20s. I'm no spring or internals expert, so I would have to leave it to others. Just my two cents here to take into consideration.

That kind of spring will probably kill your mechbox pretty quick. You will also have to use external battery because there is no space in SVD kit to house battery large enough to crank that kind of spring.
Also, like Coma said, if you are in Canada, nobody will let you use that gun during games.

heres the FPS rules for manitoba, good place to start, some fields have higher limits.
- Full-Auto: BB's must not exceed 1.48 joules of energy
Roughly:
.2g BB's: 400 fps or 120 m/s
.25g BB's: 360 fps or 110 m/s
.28g BB's: 340 fps or 105 m/s
.3g BB's: 330 fps or 100 m/s

- Semi-Auto/Bolt Action: BB's must not exceed 2.04 joules of energy
Roughly:
.2g BB's: 470 fps or 140 m/s
.25g BB's: 420 fps or 130 m/s
.28g BB's: 400 fps or 120 m/s
.3g BB's: 385 fps or 115 m/s

why do they build springs that powerful if the mechbox can't handle it. i'm sure a systema reinforced mechbox case could handle what i am looking for in performance. i have considered using the entire systema mechbox with system everything. Last case scenerio i will phone up UN company and just tell them what i am looking for and get them to custom build my mechbox. They would probably end up building me a systema mechbox anyways...since i hear systema has the reputation for being "indestructable". From what i understand my field limits are "roughly" 500fps with .20 with semi auto/bolt action. Roughly to me is shooting .36 at 425 or even 400 is good too.

I'm pretty sure Hawk would be alright with that .36 @ 425. As long as it's on semi only. We're pretty lenient on FPS limits at the field.

SystemA; I have seen their pistons, gears and mechboxes all fail.

The 470fps thing is mostly out west at a few select fields. For the most part, AEGs are limited to 400fps and bolt action limited to 450fps...both of those numbers are with .20g
Considering that your gun would be an AEG, it qualifies at 400fps with .20g and off the top of my head, with .36g your looking to chrony below 350fps.

Just make sure your using your head. The more powerful your gun is, the better the odds that its gonna screw up more. And the performance gains are not worth the risk to other players. 400fps with .36g is not pleasant at the wrong range.

Plus there is talk of setting a limit on our field as some people tend to ignore the safe engagment zone with their upgrades

I am well aware of field limits and engagment distances. I think we are going off topic talking about this. What is on topic is... How would i build the ultimate mechbox? My idea of a perfect reply to this question would be someone that has tested and pushed the limits of airsoft guns... to display a list of upgraded reinforced parts that i would use to build this..."ultimate mechbox".

The problem there is that not a lot of people have done that, due to the concerns already brought to your attention numerous times. Its not off-topic in the least.

Off topic to me is talking about airsoft field limits and rules in an "Upgrade & Modifications" thread. Even i right now am going off topic by saying that your going off topic. The topic is reinforced upgrades for my mechbox. I'm not trying to offend anyone i just don't want to here anything more about rules. If no one can give me the information, thats totally fine.

It would seem the rules, and consequently the well-being of other players, does not matter to you. That kind of attitude won't get you any help.

I've built a number of guns over the years, from ROF monsters to high fps can-shooters that can't be used on "friends", because they won't be your friends for long after you shoot them.

Ultimately, the higher you push the envelope, the more things break, and they break more often, usually with disasterous consequences. If you plan to dump $200-$300 in internal upgrades into this gun, you better keep another $150 in spare parts handy. Basically, buy 2 of everything.

Building the ultimate mechbox is easy with an unlimited budget.

Start with a Haynes/6Mil custom CNC'd mechbox (only available in v2) - which runs around $300 for an empty mechbox shell: http://www.andairsoft.com/preoraaexv2b.html

Add a Systema Super Torque Up or Infinite Torque Up gearset, Systema Bore-Up cylinder set, Prometheus shims, Systema lubricants, plus whatever spring you want - $300 CDN.

Buy the hardest hopup bucking you can find (65% or 70%) - $20 CDN.

Drop in an ICS Turbo 3000 motor (Or a Systema Magnum if you prefer) ($70 - $100 CDN), and run the whole thing off an 11.1 LiPoly battery ($150 US, including special LiPoly charger). Rewire mechbox with ultra-low resistance RC car wires ($20-30).

So, for $850 or so, I can build you the ultimate v2 mechbox (providing I can source the Haynes/6Mil mechbox shell), and it comes without warrantee of any kind - you blow it up the first day out an it's your problem, not mine, just like any high-end sports car.

The cheaper route would be to buy a Systema Complete M150 mechbox and simply adjust the spring to your needs, but there are no gauantees onthe life of the mechbox shell itself.
