p90 upgrading tips

i was just wondering if anyone had any useful tips on taking apart a p90, is there any part that is pitularly difficult? hidden screws? springs that might go flying when it's pulled apart? tricks? things like that, that i should be aware of before i take apart my p90 and upgrade it.

If you don't know how to do it, don't. You'll probably mess it up and I'll end up fixing it. PM me or drop me a line on the RAAT forums and let's see what you want to accomplish with the upgrade and I can help you out with it.

Be aware the version 6 gear box has some specific parts that are not compatible with other, more common version gearboxes.

Yep, the best tip is to find a gun doctor and watch the work being done once.

thanks for the advice but i like to try things myself, if it means having to pay someone extra to fix my mistakes so be it.

i choose to do it myself.

on the upgrading topic, i've installed my m4a1 legnth barrel and systema hopup without a hitch...

and i now have the gearbox out, that was very simple. i noticed that one if the screws were backed right out and i plan to thred lock it when i put it back together

here is my parts list

KM 6.04 TN Barrel for Marui M4A1
Systema hop-up bucking
Systema Poly Carb Piston for Gearbox Ver 2/3
Systema Oilless Bushing and Reversal Stop Latch
Systema Air Nozzle for P90
King Arms Tappet Plate for P90
Systema N-B Cylinder Type-1 for AK47, SIG551
HurricanE Spring Guide with Bearing for Ver. 2
KM 120M Spring (for out door)
Prometheus POM Piston Head
Systema All Helical Gear Set III ( Torque Up ) (11.1v lipo batt. its to lower the ROF and hopefully reduse stress on the internals)
Systema Shim Set
KM 90M Spring (for indoor)

my next question is:

i ordered a type-1 cylinder off this list to match my M4A1 legnth barrel but after looking at it, it seems like it may push too much air. should i have ordered a type-2?

i test fired my gun after i installed the new barrel and the stock cylinder doesn't have enough compression. the groupings are a little erratic over ranged shots and at 10 ft i can't shoot through a pop can.

at 10 ft on my stock barrel i could however.

Systema NB Standard and BoreUp Parts:

1. Type-0 Cylinder (closed) fits M16-A1,VN,A2,G3-A4,SG1,SIG550,AUG

2. Type-1 Cylinder (tip hole) for XM177, M4, AK47, AK47S, SIG551

3. Type-2 Cylinder (XM hole) for MP5-A4,A5,SD5,SD6, MC51,SIG552

4. Type-3 Cylinder (M4 "3/4" hole) for MP5 PDW

5. Type-4 Cylinder (MP5K mid hole) for MP5K
*BoreUp Closed 29.4cc = 500mm(min) 600mm(max) barrel length

EDIT: i suppose this can be moved over to doctors corner.

another issue i've found. with my km tappet plate, the part that holds the air nozzle is too tight and the nozzle pops out. i'm thinking of gluing it.

my new nozzle fits just fine in the old tappet plate

can anyone confirm if there is a faulty run of km p90 tappet plates?
